Hey folks I am wondering if anyone can help me out here. I have very little in the way of knowledge on how to speak spanish, I have mustered up a few words and phrases from fellow colleagues but would like to actually understand it and speak it while it may not be fluently i can eventually achieve this. So I am looking for a good textbook that starts me off with the basics and builds upon itself such as if I was going to school but be the one doing the teaching/learning as I do not have the time or hundreds of dollars I would want to spend right now to take courses at say a community college.

Anything would help and I wanna try to stay away from spanish for dummies if possible. I have also heard rosetta stone but this can get rather expensive.

Thanks all

Possibly a local Community College may have affordable courses.

one thing I like to do to brush up on my Spanish, is to watch movies with Spanish subtitles but English dubbing. I have a some background with spanish however. Maybe find an old Spanish 1 textbook. Google translate is good to, just to learn phrases and idioms.
