QUOTE(PSUWeatherNewbie @ Feb 1 2010, 12:17 PM) *
Man this was the northern stream energy that we need present for the weekend storm, which the models at this time believe is not there and no phasing is allowed to occur, because that darn PV is blocking the trough once again. Man, I think this storm had a lot of potential because of the energy in the northern jet. Also of note is that we needed a faster disturbance this go around to phase with the STJ energy, but looks like we won't get that. Maybe some convection could kick off the coast we get a feedback where the low is further northwest. With such an energetic system convection should not be hard, as well as an explosive deepening storm center.
What does it look like for Cape Cod, MA?

Also it appears that the moisture over TX is not being seen correctly by the guidance.

heres the latest CRAS model

They are calling for just a little bit of sleet then cold rain tommorow here. We got a foot of snow here in SW VA and its suppose to be in the 20s tonight..
Wondering if that will be ice instead of cold rain even thou they say little moisture.

I dont trust them..lol wink.gif

The majority of MD gets nothing on this run. DC north basically. LOL...I'm not really worried. The models will shift all over the place in the next 2 days and then give one final shift 48 hrs out.

yea man just gotta keep waiting on it and eventually it will come to a agreement. we seen that happen just last weekend. this almost seems like a day ja voo event

i am absolutely getting dumped. 17 degrees with 3-4in in the driveway. now accuweather says addition 6-12in for me that's insane. 1-2in per hour rates are still rocking my area

Thats funny! I missed that post laugh.gif

Well..i do not think getting the shield this north is going to be the problem but whether it reaches the ground or not is a different story. I believe it will reach the ground in KPHL and SNJ should see a few inches..but if the CRAS model ends up correct then we could potentially get in on some accumulating snow but like i said its an experimental model but the QPF shield ATM looks very interesting to say the least!

glad i got to spread out the CRAS model to you guys. its a really fun model

Yup it's coming north but out of all the local Mets here in DC only 9CBS(met there is Topper Shutt the best one around here) have updated their predictions
here is his updated map

This isn't going to be nothing like the 2000 surprise but the last thing people heard on the 11 pm news was an accumulation between 1-4 inches only to have people wake up to find the posibility of this storm dumping twice that.

wow 6-10in here thats fantastic
