Simple, before Sunday of each week make a snowfall prediction for the upcoming week for the city you reside in or city near you, provided there is an official reporting station, or recognized Local Storm Spotter.

You must include a link to the local storm report page to verify the data.

Predictions must be made by Noon of each Sunday each week, no exceptions!

If you would like to pick a different city besides your hometown, so be it as long as you only use that city each week.

After the week is said in done, quote your old post with your prediction, and in the same post, provide the official tally of the weekly snowfall by adding the daily snowfalls of the week. (I trust you can handle this yourself because I simply don't have the time to do this for you. wink.gif )
If you don't add up the tally, I won't look it up myself and any score won't be counted! There are no time limits as to when you post the data. Scores can be added later

When you add the daily snowfall reports for the entire week, start with Monday's report for Sunday and conclude with Sunday's report for Saturday. Trace amounts count for 0"!

This is an example:
Say it's a Saturday 11/26 and I predict 0.1" of snowfall for Eastpointe, MI for the week of 11/21 to 11/27

By Sunday, 11/28, I add up the daily snowfall tallies through this web page:
LSR report for Eastpointe, MI

I quote this original prediction, and add up the daily totals, and report this.

A Percentage Error (PE) will be calculated by me using the formula (Bigger total - smaller total)/(bigger total) *100%

Scoring, done by me or a volunteer is as follows:
5 points for 0% < PE < 10%
3 points for 10% <= PE < 30%
1 Point for 30% <= PE <50%

One important thing, if you predict 0" and no snow falls, you don't get 5 points since it would be unfair. In this case you'll receive 1 point

(Don't worry about the math, I'll handle it!) smile.gif

Have fun!

Remember, all predictions must be made fore the same Sun-Sat period, so this needs to be 11/21 to 11/27.

Euro(ugly)...GFS(nice)...or CMC(heaven)?

I can't really score in this...as there is nothing representative of my location and the COOP (8 or 9 miles and 20"/yr away), doesn't even report in daily. There is someone who does keep a total, but isn't a Snowspotter, COOP, or part of CoCoRaHS: http://eastlakewoodweather.com/ (at the bottom of the column). If the BUF Snowspotter Network is somehow resurrected this year, #1928 is most representative of my location.

I'll play for fun, though.

Perfectly fine for this game. As long as you add up the tally by the end of each week of course, and that goes for everyone else. I simply don't have time to do all that work myself.

I have two questions, if there is only a trace of snow in the week, such as non-accumulating snow/sleet, is it OK if I report that myself? Also, I don't think I've seen a storm reporter from my town in the NWS storm reports, so is it OK if I use the storm reports from the nearest town given that I mention what town it is?
