I was out for a couple hours tonight during the height of the snow and it was actually intense at times. The combination of moderate snow with the wind and drifting made it actually somewhat treacherous. Highway 403 was absolutely gridlocked, and I am endlessly glad I do not have to drive in that. First snowfalls are always the worst.

I would estimate that Hamilton received somewhere around 5-6cm of snow, but it was the heavy, compact, and slippery kind so it created quite an impact. Hard to believe how warm it's going to get soon!

Oh yes, you should be glad you didn't have to drive last night. It took me 4 hours to get from the Hamilton mountain to Walkers line in Burlington. No joke. Worst drive ever. Most roads were a complete sheet of ice. Even though I was just crawling in traffic, I still almost lost control on the ice a couple of times. Very scary. Guess the road crews weren't prepared for it. The wind combined with falling temps caused things to ice up so terribly. Black ice is SO treacherous.

Thanks Ryan......I am so grateful to have gotten home in once piece. Too many near misses last night in my rear-wheeled drive car that has an appointment to get its snow tires THIS week. Ouch.

By the way, 8cm huh? What a nice surprise! biggrin.gif

between 5-7cm here, although it's tough to measure...winds were gusting over 70 during the height of the storm. Traffic in Hamilton was a complete nightmare all evening. It took HOURS to go anywhere due to the bottom layer of snow being wet, and then turning into a sheet of ice and not a single salt truck anywhere. I guess they got caught by surprise. After the past few winters who can blame them. Lol
My kids were pretty pumped though. Looks like it will all melt today.
