The current NHL CBA expires on September 15th, and it doesn't seem either side wants to budge. I'd really hate to see another season go down the drain, but it's almost starting to look unavoidable, and it seems like most of the talk coming from the NHLPA is more how to prepare for a lockout then avoid one. "Informal talks," have resumed, but is it a little too late with just a week left before losing games out of the season?

How dumb can the NHL be!

The animosity generated from the last strike/lock out hasn't settled with the fans yet.

I saw a story earlier, I can't find the link anymore, that the NHLPA said that the NHL players would be willing to play with the current CBA until negotiations could be reached.

Please let this happen. x.x

Today's the day. Maybe we'll see some sort of maracle, or the Stanley Cup gets awarded elsewhere.

Will a NHL puck be dropped in anger during the balance of 2012?

Doesn't look like there will be any NHL for the balance of 2012.

Looks like negotiations are being done in the Congressional manner.

Both sides asking the the Moon & Stars from the other and neither willing to give.

Not even a mediator was able to get some progress in the stonewalling they are calling negotiations.

Yup...its just mind blowing bettman still has a freaking job

It's just so unfair to the fans. I guarantee 90% of the players, and 100% of the owners could care less about the fans. The NHL was coming off one of the greatest seasons ever in terms of ratings, and not just for playoff games. NBC aired more games last year than previous, and the NBC sports network had games on almost every night, and sometimes 2 games. Heck, even the Devils were actually selling out some regular season games, and every home playoff game!

The NHL just threw everything away with this lockout. The sport was finally becoming something in Jersey, and the USA, and now all the casual fans can care less, and the hardcore fans like us are just *bleep*ed.

Way to go NHL

Bettman is just the mouth of the owners - that is why he has the job.

The owners are dumber than any rock quarry on earth.

Kiss the 2012-2013 season goodbye and the I don't have much hope for the 13-14 season.

It is the owners that have 3 lockouts - change the name an the face of the 'commissioner' the the results would be the same. He doesn't utter a word that isn't approved by the owners.
