Trying to gauge the interest, or lack thereof, in this thread based on how many pages past years had for the long range winter thread at this time. I know it will pick up in the coming weeks, but we are about ten pages shorter than this time last year. Wonder if the past two winters have people a little more disinterested than usual, or people just being shy before winter. smile.gif

this is probably the second most nervous (behind the fall leading in to super nino) I've been for an upcoming winter setup. Its been an awful fall and cold shots are more short lived than they were even last year so far, not to mention bone dry.

Something substantial needs to happen to flip the pattern, the good news is its still extremely early to even act like we know whats coming and Halloween sometimes features those big pattern changing storms. But the consensus is definitely for a warmer winter outside the media, so maybe that plays in our favor, usually when everyone is hedging one way, the opposite is what tends to occur lol.

"Yeah. About how often do you get below the 540 line?" laugh.gif

Generally hard to get less snow than Columbus though.

I'll put that on the must haves list

Man, I do not have good vibes when I correlate the weather directly the last couple weeks. Bone dry and way above average. The "old school LRC" wouldnt be starting off too hot.

On a side note because you may be the only people the can comprehend this. We're looking for a house to buy and looking to go about 30-45 mins north/NE of here and I cant help but every house we look at, judging its proximity to the nearby rain/snow line that typically sets up laugh.gif, also with those thoughts go how open of a space do I have for a weather station and are their enough windows to constantly see when its snowing, would I need a plow vs a snow blower, could I still walk out at 11PM to check and see if thats still rain or FZ rain

Simply put, I followed my grad school advisor here for work. In the long term there's potential that I could start the states first climate/meteorology program at WVU meaning this University is ripe with opportunity for me.

Congrats on your new endeavors! I'm just now noticing this. Glad to have another eye in the field in an area we don't have many. You'll cash in on the eastern inland runners Ohio usually misses out on, which historically has been our furthest east members that post regularly. That's going to be interesting to see play out with the elevation and all.

#natgas is a very widely used # in the stock world, particularly in those invested in stocks that have a direct correlation to natural gas. I'm on a stock message board (stocktwits) and models long and short term are posted allllll the time because its a 90% correlation to the weather. While im sure those bullish on natgas stocks would be more inclined to post such a model, I think that hashtag is more aimed at informational, much like we do on here.
