Waiting for the SOI to signal high amplitude? Daily change suggests the queue is empty. The East Asia Rule suggests CONUS wide trough 11/30-12/2 though...

Finally a decent SOI jump, but I don't think it's a good one. laugh.gif oh well. Hopefully we see a commensurate drop soon. smile.gif you know, for the kiddies, for Christmas

National Weather Service New York NY

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...

The long term looks fairly tranquil, with zonal flow aloft and
mainly weak frontal passages, one daytime Wed and another Thu night
into Friday. Frontal Passage on Wed should be dry, and with high pressure of
Pacific origin building in plus downslope flow, Wed should be a mild
day with highs in the mid and upper 50s. As the high builds in temps
will settle back closer to average for late week into the weekend,
with upper 40s and lower 50s expected.

Recent daily changes have been lackluster, I agree. From your table it looks like there will be a significant rise metric showing up on my SOI daily change chart. When I interpret the SOI daily change I think of the H5 anomaly centered around North Dakota. A +H5 in ND probably connects a -H5 in your neck of the woods. We shall see! smile.gif

Actually 70s + would be nice spring temps for Va. Low 60s as a high is not "warm" per se. it's just not "horrible" and it's the best we can get, so ...

Our Average Temps for November are in the 60s ... Now they start dropping of to upper 50s ....

Better than 40s, but IMO we need a little stretch of 70s to help fortify those of us who hate winter to make it through!

Lol, no, it's not sorry. It's a character from one of my favorite movies. It's called, "what we do in the shadows". It's a fun little movie from New Zealand. smile.gif
