It is so warm and moist in Hamilton right now that I was walking around this evening in a t-shirt and didn't even feel cold. Definitely feels a lot more like late April than early December!

Temps should drop back to near seasonal levels through tomorrow as a front pushes in from the west. Will likely be quite gusty at times in advance of this cooldown. There doesn't seem to be much support for a return to ridiculously above-average temperatures anytime soon, although another push of milder air will be in place for the weekend. Next week certainly looks to be an intriguing one as cold could make a more sustained assault on the region.

Toronto hit 16C today, setting a new record. Alliston weather station has recorded temps of 15C for most of the morning but my car has been showing 16C, probably because the weather station is about 12KM north of the town.

I'm at 14.3c now and EC has a high of 15c with a current reading of 14c which should also break Ottawa's record of 13.9c from 1982. They have us with temps dropping to -5c through tomorrow as the FROPA drives temps back down ahead of a more modest warmup over the weekend. Just a wild ride. |

Crazy dividing line of temps still, out near us west of Ottawa it's reading 15 - 16c. In Ottawa it's still only 6c at 11:30 and now it's 9c at noon. So half an hour west of the city, temps were over double for a period of time!! |

Just an unbelievable surge of warmth ahead of the front. Ottawa is at 18c according to EC (I have 16.7c here) which just obliterates the old record from 1982 I posted about earlier.

Number of downloads: 0QUOTE Residents in southern Ontario were using any excuse to get outdoors and enjoy the record breaking warmth on Tuesday.
"By the early morning hours on Tuesday, several places had already broken the daily temperature record, some dating back over 50 years ago," says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. Ottawa certainly wrote a new page in the record book after reaching a new all-time record high for the entire month of December. The city hit 17.6°C smashing a record of 16.3°C set on December 3, 1998. The hot spot of the province and entire country for that matter, was Brockville, which saw temperatures skyrocket to 19.5°C on Tuesday. Rain showers accompanied the record heat across the region, which left some people hoping for snow instead. "I'm a winter person and I like skating and snowboarding so rain and mild temperatures doesn't really help for that," said one Torontonian we caught up with. "It's the Christmas season and we don't want to be sitting in the rain," said another. The rare December t-shirt weather was short lived, with a return to more seasonal conditions for the rest of this week. |
