Looks like a major change from the dry weather of the past 45 days in California as we finally see an end to the record breaking dry(rainy season) that we have been having. The first storm is expected to hit NorCal on Wednesday but then a more potent storm will arrive Thursday night and effect almost all of California save the San Diego area. The most effects will be seen the further north you go as 4-7" of rain is expected in the Eureka area and then it tapers down to minuscule amounts near the LA area. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the event.

Looking like more significant rain is in the works for next week for us down here in So Cal...Of course believing anything beyond a few days regardless where you live is foolish. Although I'm leaning more towards this being a likely scenario. Have to wait and see how it unfolds...

Aside from that we had some pretty hard showers blow through about an hour ago which was enough to drench everything...Cleared up for the time being, but there is more in the forecast.

For the season, I'm still sitting pretty with the pretty frequent severe outbreaks we had last month and beyond. If it were not for that I'd be well below average. Furthermore I would have much rather had that rain spread out through the month of December etc..Take what ya get when you can get it.

looks like long beach got some showers earlier, but still nothing here. Seems like there's a fairly decent area of rain offshore that's moving towards the area though

Latest discussions point to likely rain for the area this evening and also reaffirming a potentially significant rain event for Southern California next week...A pattern change is certainly in the works.

It's getting ominously dark outside as the rain approaches the coastline. Already "damp" today so well see what happens.

As expected, The cells just before they arrive in LB are intensifying into thunderstorms. Been misting and lightly raining here the past hour or so, but there is some nastier stuff about to move in. I swear I'm never moving from the LBC.

We haven't had any rain here today but the NWS is calling for totals to be between 0.10" and 0.25" here as well.

It's still coming down at a pretty good clip..Had a few brief lulls but for the most part, It's been a good rain, at times moderately heavy when the more intense cells move through. I'd guess I got about another hour or so of rains before it tapers off and the folks further south begin to pick this up...I wouldn't be surprised if Beck gets some decent rains if this holds through, which at the moment it is..

Looking ahead, Things get interesting this weekend as a fairly significant system hits us for the weekend dumping some nice totals. Even more rain beyond that looks true. Of course it's the medium to long range so I will continue to monitor it as day to day runs could pull back or lay it on even stronger for us.

It's coming down pretty good right now and this is the first measurable rain of 2012. Of course, we are probably getting more rain here in Lake Forest than most of the O.C.

That's one of the advantages of living in the lower western foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. The rain may be just now getting here - for the first time in about a month, it's sprinkling outside. It probably won't last long, though.
