The internet generation has grown up with a computer world where words have no weight...people can say whatever they want pretty much with no repercussions...yet the 'real' world has not changed..... dry.gif

In a 'virtual' world ...just like Philosophy....one can ruminate, question, and pontificate as if one knows....

Lots of untruths and pure speculation is now thought to be true because people have lost the idea of thinking for themselves...they follow our politicians lead and believe that argumentation means something...it doesn't...it is only mental mind games....no one can be certain how they will react to stimulus in the 'real' world until an event actually occurs....

To think that preparations, weapons, plans, or any form of 'self-protection' is going to remove fear or uncertainty from our lives is a sham...we all are mortal and to be ignorant to the fact that as a society we must all relinquish a little to allow others full access to what everyone wants...freedom....if we spoke to our neighbors more, learned to understand people of other lifestyles, faiths, religions, and localities then maybe, just maybe this country could be safer and we wouldn't have to argue and be opinionated about tragedies...because they would not be occurring at the rate they do now. By choosing isolationism, stockpiling, Armageddon style thinking we have debased all of the good for the sake of protecting our own fears...Are our own fears more important than unifying a country....a great strong country where we could depend on our fellow man regardless of his affiliation...simply because he was an American!

No...we are caught up in an unreal world...where news stories cause panic...where our own needs and indulgences are more important than food for starving children,...where having a newest phone means more than adequate health care for all Americans...and on and on....

Is this the Country we still think it is...or is that just a 'virtual' reality anymore...

Let's all be more respectful and the Games and EE can be fun instead of too serious....the 'real' world is plenty serious enough for us not to have to drag the headlines and fighting, arguing, and posturing into something that should remain innocuous .....there are plenty of blogs that allow the nasty name-calling that goes on in potentially 'loaded' subjects.... dry.gif

Just an opinion....we only have one world and we had better learn to share it.... wink.gif

Partly. I know I'm afraid to go on some forums and try to post. Not so much with this one, but I get what you're saying.

Nothing here needs to be added to or built-upon idee....you express your
ideas very well and always have. Would like to relate my own experiences
here, not as long as some....to be sure. But I have always enjoyed it
immensely here and not just because it was the only place I had access
to at work (no longer do dry.gif ) but because I like it here! To me, the forums
are what YOU make of them. If you want an interesting and exciting
experience in Accu....be that way yourself instead of wanting to be
entertained by someone else. I never had as much fun as when I was
posting pictures and doing the daily history and trying to make the
games funny and interesting. Before my computer turned on me and
won't even let me 'browse' most of the time. But that won't last forever
(are you listening computer?).

As for members who seem to have moved on....I know some of them
and there are myriads of legitimate reasons we don't see them anymore.
From 'no access from work' like me and stinkie and sometimes sfhyph,
to unimaginable personal tragedies. And the same thing happens in
other forums.....'stuff' happens. But I'll continue to like it here enough
to peek in a couple or several times a day...just to see what you folks
have to say for yourselves. I may not agree, but I enjoy reading you
just the same. If we all thought and felt the same then we would be
guppies, wouldn't we?

There is one thing about this forum that American cannot compare too. This forum has a lot of kind people. Most of the people on the other board are very rude to say the least. If this forum goes, I won't have a good weather forum.

For example, the post count and becoming an "F5 Superstorm" after 500 posts. They were going to change it, but nothing happened.

They're waiting for me to finally reach 500.
