I just noticed that my longest lasting snowpack this season was from December 24th - January 13th of at least 1".

I decided to create this thread for fun to see how long everyone else here had a snow pack this winter of at least 1" and maybe even your longest snowpack over an entire winter... I have short memory with these types of things but I can only assume that I held a very nice snowpack for several months over active winter seasons of the past.

What about you? Can you shed any light of how active some of your past seasons were and how long your snowpack lasted along with maybe your greatest snowpack at one time? I think I can remember several winters with over a few feet on the ground at one time.

What's a snow pack? The last time I heard that term was when winter existed back in 2010-11 laugh.gif

The last real snow pack I had was back in 10-11, lasted from 12/26 straight through 2/26 or so. There was some form of snow on the ground, including piles, from 12/14 through mid March, basically almost the entire winter. That was an amazing winter for NE NJ standards.

I lived in the Black Hills of SD a couple of years ago. The snowpack lasted at least 3 months. Oddly, it never got below zero, even when lower elevations did. Thermal inversion, I think they call it smile.gif

In 2010-2011 we had a snow and ice pack that last at least fours week from the middle of December to the middle of January. We just kept getting dumped on here in CT. The 30" we just got will be gone in a couple weeks if no more falls on top of it.

Got a pretty good snow pack that developed and lasted the entire month of January 2009. Late January and early February 2011 saw a pretty sizable amount of snow on the ground as well. Also; this past month has had the longest snow pack in a while for my region. Snow pack is very important to me in the winter as I love to see it cover everything on the ground and see it falling from the sky as well. smile.gif
