NWS Albany calling for widespread accumulations with the back-end snow behind the cold front, showing up to/above 1" in some areas... outside of western parts of the region (W NY) I don't really see that happening.

I haven't followed this too closely but I would also be surprised if anyone from Albany and points SE sees backend accumulating snow with this. Maybe NW of Albany it's a different story.

Back-end snows from what I understand aren't too common behind cold fronts in this part of the region, usually they are more common further west... some snow showers are possible though if there's enough precip left over when the cold air rushes in. Either way I'm still looking forward to February for the next snow potentials.

NAM showing bak end snows in se pa. About 0.1 to 0.25 qpf. That's 6 hours after the cold front passes. I still don't believe this will happen.

It's a waste of a thread for snow lovers, but not for those that look for other types of weather as well. Aside from the back end snow showers, we're also looking at near or over 1 inch of rain in some areas, with strong wind gusts up to or possibly locally above 50 mph, as well as strong thunderstorms in the lower mid Atlantic with thunder possible into parts of PA/NJ.

Seriously, the whole stretch of weather from late last week through this storm is really interesting from a meteorological standpoint. Cold and snow followed by ice, followed by an intense warm-up, followed by thunderstorms and a strong cold front with a chance of snow showers at the end. This is sort of a neat occurrence and is much more worthy of a thread than the 200 page clipper last week.

Todays storm has been 10X more interesting for my area that the 200+ page clipper thread. I am primarily a winter weather enthuiast so this storm doesn't excite me much but I guess for those who are interested, this has severe weather potential for the MA. I would like the fact we get a reprieve from the cold and see mild temps for a few days if it wasn't for the fact that it's going to take the largest snowpack i've had in 2 years away in a matter of a day or two.

Also I'm not seeing much backend snow potential with this for basically anyone outside of snow showers for the higher elevations. 850 line looks decent at the end but surface temps will be coming from the 50s/60s and I doubt fall enough in time before precip leaves.

This definitely did not work out too well.

Looks like all that is left is the strong cold front with the possibility of back end snows.
