The NYC (WNYW 5) stations are going to a reporter in the OBX, TWC Jim Cantore will show him three out of four times when NC will be getting hammered, it really is amazing how they will focus so much on a region that is not even getting hit by the brunt of the storm, it really is amazing how they are over at The Weather Channel, I am from the NYC area, and even I think that they love to focus waaayyy too much on the New York City region, it really annoys me a lot.

Cape Lookout has a 45kt wind gust...but there is a ton of rain along the SE coast of NC that is likely helping those gust.

Even Onslo Bay Outer buoy is only experiencing 40kt gust with a 29.27 pressure.
