Douglas-Macon-
1122 AM CDT THU MAY 4 2017

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM CDT FOR
COLES...CHRISTIAN...EDGAR...MOULTRIE...SHELBY...PI
TT...VERMILION...
CHAMPAIGN...DOUGLAS AND MACON COUNTIES...

At 1120 AM CDT, flooding continues across a large part of east
central Illinois, in response to 2 to 5 inches of rain that has
fallen since yesterday. The heaviest rainfall over the last 24 hours
was focused on the Effingham to Paris corridor. An unofficial report
of 6 inches of rain was recently received in Charleston. Many roads
are either closed or have standing water on them. This includes
highway 136 in Rantoul, highway 130 between Camargo and Urbana,
highway 128 north and south of Shelbyville, and highway 32 between
Lovington and Windsor. Parts of state highways 16, 316 and 130 in
Coles and Moultrie Counties are also seeing standing water, and
several smaller roads are closed due to the ongoing flooding.

Radar at 1120 AM indicates that areas south of a Shelbyville to
Paris line will soon see a break in the rain develop, but additional
rainfall will move in during the afternoon. Further north toward
Decatur, Champaign and Danville, periods of moderate to heavy rain
will continue through midday.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 57 between mile markers 180 and 257.
Interstate 72 between mile markers 126 and 182.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 161 and 220.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Flash Flood Watch be issued for the same areas that got hit this past weekend...I had right at 4" and the current 12z GFS/NAM both give me an additional 3-4" with this next system not good especially when most of the fields here are under water!

No clue hat the EURO showing, but seems to be GFS/Canadian vs NAM on the free models

All 84 hour totals

12Z GFS

[attachment=325695:qpf_acc.us_ov__4_.png]

12Z CMC

[attachment=325696:qpf_acc.us_ov__6_.png]

12Z NAM

[attachment=325697:qpf_acc.us_ov__5_.png]

Euro is on the GFS side of things. I think the Warm Front will have a very hard time getting NW as the recent NAM takes it

Quite the placement difference between the NAM and GFS

NAm at 84 total QPF

[attachment=325608:qpf_acc.us_ov__1_.png]

GFS same hour

[attachment=325610:qpf_acc.us_ov.png]

GFS event total

[attachment=325611:qpf_acc.us_ov__3_.png]

00z EURO is on the GFS side so I'd say 3"+ is very likely at this point

Doesn't surprise me given the quasi-stationary jet/stationary front.

quasi-stationary jet/stationary front should setup bringing a good shot at a flooding event somewhere in the region.

hopefully we don't see much of anything...if we do it won't last long with temps in the 60's and 70's by later this week and next week.
