I am glad that someone finally got an answer out of NOAA as to why the computer forecast models are doing worse than usual with East Coast storms this season. It is something that many meteorologists, including those at AccuWeather and the Weather Channel, and obviously most of you, have noticed.

Simply put, Uccellini said, the models don't have as much skill at dealing with storms that originate from within the northern branch of the jet stream versus southern stream systems.

Feel free to discuss, but let's stay away from the conspiracy theories. I am relieved that we finally have an explanation, and I am curious to see if any high-profile meteorologists disagree.

They're not that good with the southern stream s/w troughs either.

So this debate could go either way.

Forecasting is not COPYING someone else's work.. Do it YOURSELF or don't do it at all. PERIOD.
