Nice...not many models had the widespread snow up there. I do find it weird that models constantly fail in your area.
Glad to see you back!

huh.gif weren't you here during '07-'08? I don't think there was more frustration that that winter for the rest of us laugh.gif

My eyeballs obviously need more snow training...just over 3" to report as a final. We did end as some heavy sleet so "maybe" that compressed the snow and I can surmise, cough cough...depressed totals here.

Oh I was just starting out at that time. LOL 07-08 was awesome up here dude! It was one of our snowiest winters on record. tongue.gif

Seriously though, Burlington, had a record snowy 3 month period Dec-Feb...

Looks like a batch of rain heading down. But you're eyes will probably see the 70s temps first then realize its still 30s in New England, then realize the batch of rain. lol

Should we just extend this OBS thread for tomorrows storms as well?

Upton High Wind Watch

QUOTE
* HAZARDS...DAMAGING WIND GUSTS.

* WINDS...SOUTH 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH.

* TIMING...WEDNESDAY NIGHT...ESPECIALLY FROM LATE EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...THESE STRONG WINDS...IN COMBINATION WITH HEAVY RAIN...COULD BRING DOWN WHOLE TREES...LARGE TREE LIMBS...POWER LINES AND UNSECURED OUTDOOR OBJECTS. THIS COULD POSE A HAZARD TO ANYONE OUT DRIVING OR WALKING WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AND TO HOUSES AND OTHER STRUCTURES NEAR LARGER TREES.

QUOTE
...FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS
EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN
ADVISORY FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1000 FEET IN LITCHFIELD AND
BERKSHIRE COUNTIES
...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS
EVENING.

* LOCATIONS...ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1000 FEET IN BERKSHIRE AND
LITCHFIELD COUNTIES.

* HAZARD TYPES...FREEZING RAIN.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH.

* TIMING...FREEZING RAIN DEVELOPING BETWEEN 5 AND 7 PM...ENDING BY
10 PM.

QUOTE
* FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL EASTERN NEW YORK AND ADJACENT WESTERN NEW
ENGLAND.

* FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL TO
THE ALBANY FORECAST AREA FROM TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING.
THIS IS EXPECTED TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY ABOVE FREEZING
TEMPERATURES AND SOME SNOW MELT. IN ADDITION...THE GROUND IS
FROZEN ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA.

* THE COMBINATION OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AND SNOW MELT ON
FROZEN GROUND WILL LIKELY CAUSE LOCALIZED SMALL STREAM FLOODING.
WITH SOME ROAD CULVERTS CLOGGED WITH ICE...A FEW RURAL ROAD WASHOUTS
ARE ALSO LIKELY. PAST HISTORY SAYS THAT EVENTS LIKE THIS ALSO
PRODUCE A COUPLE OF HILLSIDE SLIPS OR MUD SLIDES IN STEEP
TERRAIN. BASEMENT FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

* SHORT LIVED RIVER ICE JAMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. ICE IS NOT YET
THICK ENOUGH FOR LONG LIVED ICE JAMS THAT WOULD CAUSE SERIOUS
FLOODING. SOME MINOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE FROM ICE JAMS.

* THERE IS A LOW CHANCE FOR LARGER RIVER FLOODING AT THIS TIME.
NO LARGER RIVER FLOODING IS FORECAST BY THE RIVER FORECAST
CENTER. HOWEVER...LATER FORECASTS SHOULD BE MONITORED.

Yeah, that's headed toward me. Stumbled on the batch of rain while playing around on my phone. thought I needed to hit refresh and that it was an old radar from August or something. I did not expect it. Unless it breaks up it could be crossing NNJ during the ride home. Just the precursor to tomorrow nites expected horrible ride home and coming off the heels of last nites slick ride home. I almost like the nasty cold weather better at this point.

Interestingly the temperature here has dropped to 32F. I am not sure that's enough for icing later on when the rain moves in.

Currently 33F with a DP of 29F. Not positive about fzr down here in the valley tonight but will be an issue up in the local hilltowns. Will be monitoring the next batch of precip as it moves in...
