We are not done with winter. Not by a long shot. Don't buy the snake oil being touted that says otherwise.

Friendly hint for you side liners. Thick skin will get you through those "paddling sessions" - being all butt hurt about it, and even worse commenting how butt hurt you are, curries sympathy with very few.

The more you post things like "see, this is why I don't post anymore" - well that all but locks that you will never be treated any differently.

To all those (including me) who take posters to task for not being clear (and to be clear, I will do it almost every time I get frustrated) - we could also stand to try to restrain ourselves, find a better way - or method, to convey our constructive criticism.

My thoughts exactly. Yes, the next 7-10 days don't look good for winter-lovers at all, but I cannot image we make it thru to spring without a decent period of wintry weather yet.

While I know there is a lot more to ponder over the upcoming weeks than the SSW event, I have to wonder if the models are struggling to sort everything out.

On Friday, Athens had its first 80-degree day since November 7. This week, it looks like I'll have to turn on my air conditioner for the first time since early November as well. I'd like to have a cool March, honestly. One during which I don't have to use the air conditioner until after St. Patrick's Day or so.

This winter has been a marked improvement over the previous two, but there's still room for improvement. We had seasonable weather at Christmastime, and an extended period of extreme cold in January, but this is about to be the third winter in a row with an extended period of warmth, with high temperatures about 20 degrees above normal, and low temperatures about what the average high temperature is. I'll even forfeit any extended period of extreme cold in exchange for no extended periods of warmth.

Goals for the winter of 2018-2019: 1) Another seasonable Christmas. 2) No extended periods of warmth. 3) A period of measurable snowfall. I got two out of three this winter. Next winter I'd like to have all three for the first time since 2013-2014.

I'm sorry, but I just had to laugh at the "goals" part. It almost sounds like you've got some sort of control over it. laugh.gif

I agree, while the rest of this month may not be looking good at the moment, I highly doubt most of us are done with snow for the season. Historically, I am pretty sure we have never had a winter that featured no snow after 2/17 as well IMBY.

Exactly, the 2 yesterday surprised me. Brought our seasonal total over 40.

It kind of did, but didn't as well with how it seems like models under doing things has been a theme with many snow events this winter. We're only one inch away from our seasonal average now. I don't think there has ever been a winter to feature such a low amount of snow from this date onward into spring so I think we'll be ok tongue.gif .
