Here is a interesting thing from the 0z GFS. It might bring some light snow to NGA, Upstate SC, and WNC.

something to watch

I hope it's still there on tomorrow's runs, I'll be satisfied to see some flurries if nothing else from this. smile.gif

GGEM has the best looking run for this time frame. Alabama looks pretty good, but the system weakens as it head into Georgia. sad.gif

NWS will probably issue some advisories today especially for the mountains.

I still feel like the upstate sc will see a good bit of sleet because of how cold it will be. it is 40 here now and when the sun goes down the temps drop real quick. dont think we get what the mountains get but we could see 2 or 3 hrs of sleet and possibly some light snow tonight we will see i guess.

NOAA changed me from 70% rain to 90% sleet/snow tonight, although it seems that whenever we have heavy clouds, like we do now, we don't get below 39 at nighttime.

Sleet is possible with the rain moving out of AL. Also Atlanta's forecast by NWS has been updated to 20% chance or rain/sleet and 60% chance tonight. ohmy.gif

I'm afraid it's moving too fast. If it moves in (NE Ga) before dark, Won't the clouds act as a blanket? Therefore bringing just another cold rain..... *sigh*

Yes and no, the clouds will help insulate the temps from getting any warmer and/or colder, but also dp's in the area around the North GA mountains are low enough to get some evaporative cooling take place. So they should have a chance of seeing a mix of sleet/rain this evening when it begins, they may get some accumulations but that depends upon how long the temps/dp takes to become too warm for sleet.

See, I don't understand at all about the dewpoints. I love, love, love coming on here and reading everyone's posts and opinions about the weather. I'm glad to hear there could still be some hope!

We know, but personally I'm very happy that I'm seeing sleet at my location right now. We can't be greedy, I take what I can get and do it with a smile. If it ends in an hour, it ends, so what. It has to end, just try and enjoy what we have now.

I was outside 15 or so minutes ago and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Something other than rain had started to fall and was making quite a noise. Little icy things were bouncing around. Definitely sleet.

Within the past couple of hours NWS has changed our rain forecast to a slight chance of sleet this afternoon with rain/sleet likely tonight.

Interesting to be hearing a couple people talking about sleet in the area here, nothing other than overcast in my neck of the woods.
