Rain total reports from CT only.. WOW!

[attachment=343454:reports13.jpg]
24hr reports from CoCoRaHS network

[attachment=343455:reports11.jpg]

The rain was unreal. One minute, its waking me up, then two minutes later its quiet again. I can see why there are huge differences in Fairfield county alone.

Living in an urban area, it can often time for time for the temperatures to cool down once a front passes to get below freezing and that happened, as usual, with this set up as well. Because of it we thankfully didn't have any freezing rain and didn't get below freezing really until the sleet began. As some others did, we mostly hung around 33-34 for a couple hours after the front dropped before things got going again

To your point, it can take some time usually for the atmosphere to "react" to the colder temps at all levels. Dew points, etc. The point some of us were making though is what causes/caused the sleet vs freezing rain in the layers.

I gave up and went to bed a little before 11 and it hadn't changed over at that point. It always seems to take longer to change at my location with these types of events.

I didn't think it wouldn't have taken that long to get down there as I was mostly snow by 10:30. I do know what you're coming from though with the change overs, my neighborhood does bust low often when they call for rain to snow events. This was an exception to what generally happens though.
