Ok, it is now officially a dumpster fire. Drifts like you can't believe, visibility maybe 50 feet. Can't see our shop on the farm and I can throw a baseball and hit it. Literally, can't see it. Backed out of my garage just to see how deep the drift is, I left a Ford logo from an F-150 in the drift lol.

Yeah, we don't get the publicity for our storms. We could be having the biggest blizzard since 1888, and Houston could get a half inch of rain, and the Weather Channel would be freaking about about how there is in inch of water in the streets.

"OMG the world is ENDING here in Houston. People are selling their babies for food and water and bread.....oh and on another note, it's snowing in South Dakota....back to Houston. AHHHHHHHHH the humanity!"

Very nice! laugh.gif

Just a tad over 6" here, and just seeing some light lake enhanced snow now. Looks like another band of precip has formed near MSP heading north.

Aberdeen, SD set two records today:

1) Record rainfall of 0.47" in one day
2) Record snowfall of 6.7" in one day

Breaking both the rainfall and snowfall records in one day? Impressive.

Wow. That is impressive. Looking through the snowfall totals on the Aberdeen site, looks like it was a good 6-12" storm for NE SD (with higher drifts of course).

I don't know about those records, it didn't rain 20 miles south of Aberdeen at all, and on the morning news yesterday at 4:30am they were already reporting 7 inches of snow in Aberdeen, and it snowed alot more during the day.

Blizzard warning still in effect until noon today.

Oh and you know it's not good outside when the scroll on the bottom of the screen on the tv doesn't say such and such highway closed and no travel advised, but it just says, "no travel advised in central and NE South Dakota" Pretty much a blanket statement lol

Wind has finally let up, just a little gust here and there. Got the skid steer and tractor with the plow on the front warming up. Yay, long day of pushing snow. (it's kind of fun though when you use large equipment instead of a snow blower or shoveling) wink.gif

Yea I actually looked through there obs yesterday and couldn't find any rain even reported so
that is pretty strange. Maybe the record was a typo or something.
EDIT: Actually now looking at their site I think they updated it to just a record snowfall and not rain. May have just been a typo. The record for snow was 8.4".

Ok, official record for Aberdeen on Feb 10.

" The National Weather Service in Aberdeen reported 12.8 inches of snow at 9 p.m. The amount shattered a 65-year-old record for the most amount of snow on Feb. 10. The previous record was 3.4 inches of snow in 1948."

I don't know where those other reports came from, but I looked outside as was like no, not even close lol

That 12.8" was storm total for two days. Two separate spots on NWS Aberdeen confirm it, unless its a typo on there part but I doubt it since its in two separate spots.
