Those maps would indicate being in the warm sector of cutters. Warm up- rain than cool and dry. Rinse and repeat. Further into 1st or 2nd week of March may have cold dry NW flow pattern if blocking occurs and -NAO develops. Could be east based -NAO steering more storms towards midwest or OV as opposed to the EC but thats wishful thinking.

I consider the transition from winter to spring the true "Dog days of winter" laugh.gif from a winter lovers perspective

Boooooo smile.gif

I am being spoiled by two straight days of 70s and having the ability to open windows at the house smile.gif

its looking like a cold and dry pattern similar to a repeat of late December, if this is the case I say screw winter having anything left in the tank as well. If we can't pull out 2 potential winter storms a week I say on with spring

Changed to a rain snow mix so I went to the mountain for some sledding. The first picture is the sledding hill I conquered multiple times, second is a generic snowy forest picture from near the top of the mountain, and third is the paltry amount of snow at the bottom of the mountain.

nice! I wish we had sledding hills like that around here

Horrible way to end what was an ok winter, albeit I now consider "winter" over (sustained cold, lingering snowpack, cold ground, etc) we will be too warm for too long too early to not get some sort of March vengeance. I'm still fully expecting at least 2 appreciable accumulating snows before said and done.

Kinda lurking here for an inch or so potential. Disappeared and reappeared 100 times due to thermals. I'd entertain seeing snow, it appears days left of seeing it are limited to whatever falls in spring

I feel like this type of pattern in February almost guarantees winter in March, usually how it works out lol, even in our worst winters

This week. Jet stream dips over the Rockies while a 588DM core builds over Florida and Gulf.

Northeast will have a zonal flow but means still above normal with 50s and 60s. I think the only saving grace would be clouds, rain and a surface cold front that would prevent an extreme warmup. I think 70s up to Virginia. That means 70s all over SC/NC.

Next week... No saving grace with this. blink.gif lol . Skiiers out west will love this pattern. Floridians will hate it. constant 80s for days on end most likely up to NC if this happens. 60s in NYC

Yikes...

yuck, what a horrendous pattern, basically an extension of the already awful and gloomy March/April patterns that take forever to transition in to spring. A warm February is good for no reason around here. But that said winter still managing to average out in most areas. By and large the biggest screw zone from a climatology standpoint is that upper MW area towards MN/Dakotas and of a smaller area in the MO valley

I don't see much of a winter setup here with ridging taking over. Still eyeballing it just in case of a pattern flip though

not bad... seems like all of us in Ohio have cashed in on some stuff... but just tired of these 2-5 inch storms. We need a widespread 8-12"+ plus one. I hope it happens before winter ends. If not oh well rolleyes.gif

yea it seems like those big events are small and isolated like yesterday's one in Iowa/N IL, and this weekends I-80 event, although that one will probably be the biggest of the year so far in terms of coverage and amounts

didnt wanna overlap dates with this thread so ill post it here and it can be moved later but should probably be separate, models are still hinting at energy behind left behind and brewing up some sort of secondary
