This storm series is just about over for us here in the South land, Although I believe Northern Cali will have 1 more storm on Wednesday before ridging becomes the dominant feature for the West Coast.
Overall, I was very pleased with rainfall totals considering the NWS was for the most part calling for very light amounts. While true for a lot of areas, Some areas fared much better. I know Santa Monica was already over 1" before the weekend storm, I was close to it before the weekend storm. Cumulatively, Between all storms in the series I came out with 1.29" of rain, Bringing the season total to 2.09". Looking ahead, Things look to dry out for a while before things become a little more active in the middle of the month. -------------------- 2012-2013 Winter Season Totals. Wow, the fog came in very quickly tonight. I totaled a modest .21" for the event, which brings my total to .58".

Was out of town for most of the storms. An unofficial 'rain gauge' in my yard ( empty bathroom oval trash bin) is about 14" tall....it was completely full! Ben Lomond station in the Santa Cruz Mountains (about 3 miles from Felton) recorded 4.18" of rain from Saturday's rain. They have 20.24" of rain for the season so far compared to 35.74" for the entire season (July/June) of last year!
It looks as if Northern California is in for one more good sized rain event on Tuesday night into Wednesday...we are looking at a much better rainy season than last year if these first few storms are any indicator of what is to come....

Thanks for posting your rain totals everybody.....gives us a pretty good grip on how variable totals were up and down the state.
The NWS LA/Oxnard office has released a bulletin regarding the record high minimum temperatures the region has been experiencing over the past few nights. More rain is on the way today with another inch or so expected around the Sacramento region. According to the NOAA Solar Calculator algorithms, tonight is the earliest sunset of the year for Lake Forest, CA and much of Southern California. Tomorrow it will be about 2 seconds later. I made a program that uses these algorithms.
Lots of thick high clouds today and once again we got very little sunshine. Looks like the marine layer could finally be wiped out by offshore flow this weekend. After all it is December, not June. This post has been edited by Jet Developer: Dec 4 2012, 10:33 PM |

We just got about another 1/2 inch or so from this last much weaker front....it is drizzling right now... I guess my trash can 'rain gauge' was pretty accurate...the map (courtesy Beck's post in Tranquil thread) shows that the Santa Cruz Mountains got over 10" of rain in the last week.....
