See a thunderstorm to my north, been pretty blah around these parts. Don't see that changing anytime soon. Just trying to avoid all the eclipse talk here. Sheesh, there is another one in 7 years that puts us right back in the 96% totality.

Anyhow, only got on to post about radarscope. Looks like they now have marine warnings. Had no clue what was goin on in the MA laugh.gif

Pouring rain and ample lightning, been watching DVR on directv nd it was glitching during strikes. Found it a bit odd.

Might see FFW, but not sure. Heavy returns still on LSX radar and pouring buckets now

Betting ILX pulled the breaker on the radar. They always give Lincoln a warning, now radar hasn't updated in 15 minutes

at least its something. im gettin lots of lightning right now. id rather have lots of rain.

I bet you get a warning, Lincoln is notorious for "radar indicated" hyperbole. A lot of the significant strikes and booms seem to be a bit west of me.

Second wave strengthening I bet.

307 PM CDT Tue Jul 18 2017

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM
CDT SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued an Excessive
Heat Warning, which is in effect from noon Wednesday to 8 PM CDT
Saturday. The Excessive Heat Watch is no longer in effect.

* TEMPERATURE...High temperatures will reach the middle 90s
Wednesday through Saturday.

* HEAT INDEX...With dewpoints rising well into the 70s, afternoon
heat index readings will peak from 105 to 110 degrees each day.

* IMPACTS...The effects of heat are cumulative, and worsen the
longer a heat wave lasts. People without access to air
conditioning, or those that are working or playing outdoors,
are most likely to be impacted by the heat. Heat exhaustion or
heat stroke are possible if work or play is too strenuous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of the
heat and high humidity will create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which
heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an
air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a
matter of minutes.

Gonna end up with about .15" IMBY. Bulk of it missed to the west amd southwest. Can't complain, last two events netted bout 2" of rain total this month, other areas vould use the rain and looks like they'll get a good soaking.

Only going to aide the dewpoints coming midweek with the heatwave, not looking forward to that at all.

Half way into July and there has yet to be a 90 degree day this month IMBY. heck, I have only seen one 90 degree day this year! Not that I am complaining smile.gif

With nice break in the weather, until this upcoming week, we have had 19 days 90 degrees or hotter. 1 in May, 9 in June and have 9 so far half way through July.

High temp of 95 3 separate times, may top that during the 18-20th period.

I'm getting too old for oppressive heat, been miserable for me laugh.gif

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
905 PM CDT Mon Jul 10 2017

.UPDATE...
Issued at 900 PM CDT Mon Jul 10 2017

Updated the forecast for handling convection trends tonight as
highest chances of showers/thunderstorms have shifted south of
I-74 with an MCS. Severe thunderstorm watch continues through 11
pm north of a Jacksonville to Springfield to Decatur to Tuscola
and Paris line. In addition to severe wx, heavy rains and frequent
lightning will also occur with these storms as they track se at
55 mph toward I-72. Still have unstable airmass over parts of
central IL especially where storms have not occurred yet, with
pockets of CAPE as high as 2-3k J/kg. Also have 30-40 kt bulk
shear over central and ne CWA (highest over northeast CWA). The
HRRR model shows convection shifting southeast toward I-70 toward
midnight as it weakens by that time, then convection is more
isolated over area overnight as airmass stabilizes. Muggy lows
overnight in the lower 70s look on track and no changes there.
