Progress report:

Officials with Hall Contracting and the Ky. Dept. of Transportation have reported that the replacement truss span, constructed at the Eddyville, Ky Riverport complex, has been fully assembled, inspected and was loaded today on barges to begin it's trip downriver to the Eggners Ferry Bridge site. Officials commented that the span, along with accompanying cranes and equipment, could begin to be ferried to the site by end of this weekend. THE BRIDGE HAS ARRIVED...

Despite a setback during the crane loading process, the replacement span along with the two cranes used to lift it into place arrived early this evening at the Eggners Ferry Bridge site. Transportation officials noted that while they do not have an exact timetable from the contractor, Hall Construction, on when the span will be lifted, preparation work could begin as early as tomorrow. Weather forecasts indicate sunny and warmer weather for the week ahead with little to no chance of storms or wind events that could affect completion of the work which has a May 27th deadline.

THE BRIDGE IS IN PLACE... smile.gif

At around 3:00 CST the replacement span was set into place with a crowd estimated between 100 and 200 viewing from vantage points along shore line. Officials with KY Dept. of Trans. and Hall Contracting are confident that remaining work to be completed will have the bridge open for traffic by Memorial Day weekend.

THE BOAT DOES FIT...

While preparations were being made to pour the concrete deck on the replacement span...a familiar vessel passed under the Eggners Ferry Bridge.
