Of course it's 10+ days out, but when models are hinting at an absolute monster winter storm on Christmas Eve you have to talk about it. tongue.gif

Although still 10+ days out, given the impact a storm would have at this particular time, i thought i would open this up for discussion. Different models showing "something" coming through our area at this time. Some solutions show a nice snow storm, others show a wash out, some suppress it south.

Much still up in the air but just opening up the topic

Hi all. thought it would be fun to throw out a topic on the upcoming winter that isn't meteorologically driven. keeping in mind that the meteorologists are forecasting a decent winter for Ontario, i tend to look at primal indicators, wild animal behaviour, deer and moose rut, and hibernation behaviour as well. All of these things this year indicate a significant winter in Ontario this year IMHO. My dog has put on 15 lbs in the last month and a half!!!

Looking like the models are sniffing something out possibly in this time frame. I am throwing in some generous optimism that it eventually evolves into a decent storm for Ontario, Quebec and Eastern Canada. Given the NAO trending neutral and the models are showing a trough in the middle of the country along with energy coming across great lakes and another along the coast, the ingredients are there for a storm. Something showing on all models in this time frame. We shall see.

I know we are in the midst of a decent snowstorm for everyone in Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec, but I wanted to throw out the possibilities that are on the horizon. What was looking like a GLC around the 22nd timeframe is slowly evolving into a much more easterly event. Beyond that I sense the models are starting to pick up dynamics that are signalling a MAJOR east coast snow storm. The storm around the 23/24th has the potential to be a monster for us in Ontario.
