The Anemometer Solar Panel in my newly installed WMR 968 system has condensation showing behind the clear plastic cover...

Anyone had a similar problem?..... It rained for 2 weeks then today is the first real sunny day in a while.

Can the Solar unit be taken apart to dry then resealed maybe better?

The other solar panels seem to be OK.

I just received a new version of the 968 wireless station (Larger Solar panels) from Costco. The Costco web site stated the outside temp range was down to -50C, but the manual still states it's only good to -20C. There is mention of other temp readings below -20C, so my question is.... does the 968 give temp readings below -20C, and does it have something to do with using lithium batteries.

I can see alkalines freezing at -20 and therefore not supplying power, but if the station only records down to -20C even with lithium batteries, then it is going back as 1/2 our winter is around that level.

I will soon be installing a 968 station and wonder if anyone has tinkered with extending the base unit antenna with coax so it can be placed in a better location to recieve data from the sending unit. The house I live in has aluminum siding which makes a great signal stopper, and I would like to have the antenna placed outside to gain range.

Any suggestions?

Barrie On. Can. is about a 1 hr drive north of Toronto.

Currently -16C and going down to -25C tonight , but with a constant 15 KPH wind, the "Wind Chill" tonight will be around -40........ and when it's that cold.... C or F is the same...

The weather alert warns unprotected skin will freeze in 10 Min.

North of here looks like the -35C range. I work for the Railway and at that temp. steel rails snap with the contraction.

Looks like these temps will be around for 5 to 6 days.

The good news is.... Ice fishing will be open this weekend !

To make all of you in the south feel a little better...

The start of this week in central Ont. Can...normal winter stuff.... -15C at night... warming to - 6 or so in the day with a few flurries.

Tues. evening .... the Pinapple express collided with the arctic express...

Freezing rain all day Wed.... then warmed to temps like +16C all day.... then heavy rain.... and now within the last 4 hrs..... 0C freezing rain ... and a snowsquall warning for my area with posssible 20 CM by morning and temps settling back to the -10C range.... and will be in the -25C range by the weekend.

I can't wait 'til spring!

Living in the shadow of the Great Lakes creates "Lake effect" snow which cannot be predicted more than maybe 24hrs ahead as it is caused by the cold air blowing over the warm lakes (Not frozen as of yet)... and dumping it within 100 klms of the shore.

Buffalo and the northern NY state know all too well this condition which can give you over 1 meter of snow within 24 hrs.
