Be glad to...

The reason I, as well as nearly 50% of the nation, feel the way we do towards this administration can be summed up in three words...

IDEAS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!

Here's some examples of those ideas held by Mr.Obama and his supporters:
1. People should be able to marry who they want, based on how they feel and the government should recognize and bless those unions.(DESTRUCTION OF INSTITUTIONAL MARRIAGE)
2. The Federal Government should be in charge of every facet of one's life...from cradle to grave. (SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM)
3. The best way to insure everyone is equal is for those who produce and earn and build to be forced to give up ALL their gains to those who WILL NOT produce, earn, and build.(WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION)
4. Individuals who illegally enter the country and make no effort to become citizens, should be given the same rights and privilges as native and naturalized citizens.(BENEFITS WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY)
5.We should appease and placate those enemies and nations who openly call for our deaths and our destruction to avoid war.(PEACE THROUGH APPEASEMENT)
Go back into history and you will see where all these, and so many other ideas not listed, have been tried and the results of those attempts. My opinions are not based on my feelings...but on solid historical evidence. I can be wrong...and pray that I am. But I don't so this time. Hope this explanation helps.

1. marriage is a part of religion, aren't we suposed to seperate religion and state? also doesn't the constitution support freedom of religion? therefore isn't the government putting restrictions on marriage unconstitutional?

2. its not the government controlling our every move its consumerism, if youbuy this or that you'll be happy, if you take this or that pill, you'll be happy. and if we haven't all noticed contries with socialized health care and education are doing better than we are and their cars get 80 miles to the gallon. research it.

3. i can't offer a much different opinion on this one really... maybe robin hood? lol

4. ok... so they are not deporting ppl any more? so that wasnt a news article i read about thousands of deported mothers losing their children to the u.s. because they were born here? also alot of the reason mothers and children are immigrating here legally or illegally are because of the drug cartel supporting the u.s's growing illegal drug dependence.

5. if by appease and placate you mean compromise and treaties... ok i can agree with that, we should just automatically send all of our millitary to start a war and die every time another country sticks out it's tounge and waggles its fingers at us...

also just sayin without ideas we wouldn't have a country free enough for you to express your's in wink.gif

Bingo! You are one of the very few people I've ever seen to acknowledge this, other than myself. We are our own worst enemy. I believe that media has such a massive influence over everybody's lives in America and increasingly all around the world, it literally has reached the point where every thought, move, decision, and purchase executed by the average human is heavily influenced (or in some cases, controlled) by media. Media tend to hold people up to certain imaginary standards, via sitcoms (dating back to the 1930s) and advertisements - all regarding food, social status, class, technology, race, gender, religion, culture, etc. all creating this obsession with keeping up with our rapid, hyper-kinetic technological industrial grid-based society, and one that is not sustainable at that. Apple is a good example of this. Coming out with new versions of the same gadget every month, creating excessive hype and spreading it like a disease - this incoherent need to keep up with the latest technology & trends or else you are a caveman living in the stone ages and are to be looked down to & stepped on by everybody else (well, something along those lines anyway). Another interesting concept to research is a little something called McDonaldization.

Marketing influences our every move - not consumerism. Marketing sets the hook that you need to keep up with the Jones'. It is up to the individual to decide if he will bite on that hook, and if he will take it hook, line and sinker. Marketing has always existed in one form or another since the dawn of man.

Consumerism, from my viewpoint, is holding the marketed product to perform at the level of the Marketing Program's claims. If product A is advertised to get 60 MPG at 80 MPH, then consumerism is the hammer that sees that the product doew in fact get 60 MPG at 80 MPH.

Man uses the level of technology that he is comfortable that he can control. The older generations reluctance to use computers was that they were not comfortable in being able to control the tool that a computer is.

Consumerism and Marketing both go hand-in-hand, really. It's not just one or the other. Globalization has been a major player in our lives as well.

Globalization & Technology go hand in hand - as with today's technology (for business purposes) almost any two points on the globe are only a phone call away. American companies having thier 'customer service' centers in India to service the American market. Containerized cargo ships moving product between continents for a cost of pennies on the unit of product. The tonnage of cargo that is in transit around the world staggers the mind - heck, the tonnage of cargo one passes on a Interstate during a trip to or from work on a daily basis is staggering, when you stop to think about it. Every truck you see, either is carrying product or is getting in position to carry product. Commerce on both a national and global basis it staggering.
