I believe today has turned out to be our first above average day in 3 weeks.

Since we're basically at the end of the abnormally cool start to the month, here is where the departures and average temperatures were for the month as of yesterday. Not looking good for much below normal weather for the next week or more after tomorrow IMBY so hopefully this start was strong enough to give us a below normal month.

A few days ago, I was going to say that this month had a 99 percent chance of ending up cooler than average. Now that percentage has fallen to 75. September 1994 began similarly chilly but ended up only one degree below average. Today was out first warmer-than-average day here since Aug. 22--the longest stretch without an above-normal mean since the period between Feb. 8 and March 4 of 2015.

I am concerned because it does look to get awfully warm during a time when the averages plummet. Back in March a few abnormally warm days completely cancelled out the cold back here rendered us slightly above normal mad.gif . I think we deserve some very extended periods of cool weather after how bad it's been most of the last two years.

Sorry I missed this cool snap in New England...I heard there was scattered frost on Sept. 1 and a trace of snow on Mt. Washington.

I have relocated to the Midwest so I'll just be a forum visitor and once again jealous of New Englanders like telejunkie and MaineJay reporting gigantic snow totals just like I was when living in PA and MD. But on the drive out here I did drive right by Herkimer, NY for the first time.

We were cooler than normal 12 out of the first 13 days of the month. Today we reached 85F.

Geeze lol you didn't have much of one at all it looks like. Then again, the departure from average map I found shows much of Maine has been no more than 2 degrees below normal when even some above normal spots. I really enjoyed the -7 departure we had for the first two weeks of the month. What shame were back in summer for the next 10 days or so now. dry.gif

I'm enjoying this little warm up into the mid 70's. Been quite cool, been burning the wood stove each night. Quite happy for this, need to get some work done on the old homestead before winter.
