The main GB squall has finally moved over Barrie. But it appears to be losing intensity, with newer, multiple bands setting up in a more WNW direction, just to the north.

Just to the north has been the story of the day. I think we'll get something out of this eventually, we have all of tonight and tomorrow with favourable winds, I suspect a band or two will form over the city for awhile and give us a good 10-20...it normally does when the wind comes out of the NW which it is only just starting to now.

Snow band has moved south of my area (McCowan and Steeles). Hopefully one final band can move through overnight. Amazing day overall, although really sad about the loss of life in Michigan.

North Barrie is getting hammered , south Barrie barely a flake.

Had about 2-3 cms in the past hour, starting to build nicely again....think it's going to head a bit south and fizzle out soon though judging by the radar. Still opportunity for more though...those northwesterlies are around for at least another 12 hours.

We had 12 cm in Barrie, so Travis gets it right again, although I suspect there's a fair few people in the 1-5cm zone he predicted who would disagree! Overall a mildly satisfying spell of LES, but for this neck of the woods it's a bit Bla. Hoping Sunday night will add another 5-10 to make up for it.

It's extremely hard to predict lake effect with these conststanly changing wind directions. It's extremely localized and while that guy above in Wellington got 25cm, if you go just a half hour the other way there's only 3-4cm on the ground. Barrie has 10-15cm on the ground, Alliston has 1cm or less. Midtown TO got more snow then many areas up north.

I agree LES is very hard to predict...when I see the northwesterlies appear on the maps, I know we're going to get some, but it could be anything from 2cm to 50 cm!

And Barrie, some bands moving off GB...really don't understand how these form in the light winds...I get the squalls that form when high winds cross open water, but the ones forming today don't make sense. Saying up to 30 cms, think that must be wasaga, midland area, don't see Barrie getting more than a couple of centimetres.

That's awesome so many people are getting snow. I can confirm the Alliston area has been receiving mostly sunshine today with scattered flurries at times. Since this whole LES event started Thursday the area has received only 1-2cm.

The band is still effecting the area but beginning to weaken. I can only imagine how much snow accumulated throughout the day with the 2-3" snowfall rates showing up in these bands.
