This is my 2nd Canadian/Newfoundland winter also, come from UK and also mad about snow though I am here for a woman, the snow was not my reason. People call me the weatherman too ![]() Last winter was below average for snowfall though still around 2.5 metres, it seemed a heck of alot to an Englishman. It's funny how quickly you adapt though, 5-10 even 15cm doesn't even raise an eyebrow with me now where's as back in England that was huge and something rarely seen (certainly prior to 2009 back to the mid 90's, can remember some winters with barely a dusting) My missus is from New Zealand, but lived in the UK for 10 years...she also loves the snow, and swears it doesn't feel as cold here as the UK. I'm like you and have got a bit used to it all, but I still love it, and most of all going out with snow shoes hiking. |

Hello There
I am a southern Ontario Barrie boy originally (think fasination about weather came from living in Barrie in 1985 during the tornado, it amazed me the power of mother nature. Everything in our life can change in a moment.. and that was a great example... after that I was always interested in weather. I think weather is fasinating and it is great to read this blog Just joined, Live in Vaughan now |

Hi All,
I have been entertained and educated on these forums for the past few years. I joined last year but have not formally introduced myself. My name is Craig and am an Environmental Technologist, specializing in the Water and Wastewater Sector. Meteorology is a side hobby for me and I generally drive my family crazy by my keen interest in weather. I enjoy all weather and all seasons but i enjoy a good winter storm the most. Look forward to being on here. This post has been edited by SixthSense: Dec 14 2013, 08:52 AM |

i'm not a meteorologist, nor am i an expert in reading some of these complexities (that's why i rely on you guys) but it's a hobby, and i look forward to following 2014 and beyond with all of you! |

Hi
I'm Justin and I live in Montreal. I'm definitely not a weather expert but I'm fascinated by it and I'm hoping to learn as much as possible, especially in regards to learning how to read weather models. J |

Hello everyone . I am humidex, a weather fan from the village of Harwood on the south shore of Rice lake. In between Cobourg on the south and Peterborough to the north. I am very pleased to have found a group of like minded weather buffs and awed by the amount of new material available. Weather has a huge influence on my life, from my duties as a volunteer firefighter which include ice water rescue, to the operation of our wastewater treatment plants.

Hi
Just a little introduction here . I live in a small town called Mansfield in Dufferin County Ontario . We get some pretty crazy weather in these parts of the province with heavy snow squalls coming off the lakes to wild spring/summer storms . I work outside for a major airline out of YYZ (Pearson) and the weather is involved with me on a daily basis . I also enjoy getting outside as much as possible and doing a little backwoods camping and fishing . I wouldn't say I'm a weather expert but I follow it and somewhat understand it and with this forum I hope to learn a lot more about it and possibly give back any kind of information I can either from the hustle and bustle of YYZ or the area of Dufferin County . Thanks for having me . Cheers Dave (Snowbelt) |

Hi all! My name is Kyle and I'm in Fredericton, NB. I have been on this site for as long as i can remember and have been obsessed with weather for quite some time. I love interpreting the model runs and comparing all the different forecasts using those same models. Living in NB we get some very interesting weather. I am a GIS Specialist so this addiction with weather(storms!) is right up my alley. Look forward to chatting with all of you.

Well it took me a while but here you go
My name is Ricardo and I live in Toronto. I don't understand weather forecast much, I started reading this forums because I thought that you guys are far more accurate than the weather network, accuweather and the likes. Particularly, when some of you predicted the ice storm of 2013 way in advance. My favourite season is spring (sorry). I really don't mind snow, I think it looks nice, my only problem is when it ices up or get slushy. But I really, really, really hate freezing rain. I am originally from the southern hemisphere and I didn't even know what it was, now I do ![]() Anyway, I don't post much because I am not of much use, but I really appreciate all the information you give here (even when I don't understand a word ![]() |
