Current temps. Teens made it to the CT coast but Long Island is in the mid 20s as well as NYC. Single digits made it to Northern Westchester in southern NY and interior CT including Danbury in SWCT Below zero readings are common north of I-90. I dropped to 13.7 now which is the low. Winds increased to 10mph gusts which makes the wind chill in single digits. [attachment=184443:temps21.jpg] pretty amazing the influence of the atlantic+urban heating. A fairly balmy 25 in NYC. got up and checked the thermometer at my kitchen window which is against the house facing in so not to be influenced by the sun in summer, so I reckon its a few degrees warmer than actual outside temps away from the house (ESPECIALLY because we have no insulation in the house, so the heat and our money just go flying out the walls!) and it said 0F at 8.30am! The next village over from me reported -6F at the same time. I also noted that at 5pm last night when walking my dog outside, the bank temperature/clock thing said it was 10F! Its hard to believe a mid-month thaw is coming up!

Made it to 19 last night lol barely getting to or above freezing today.
Later this weekend i have been hearing everyone talk about mild air flowing in. While it is possible it may not be nearly as strong. Temps may only get to the low 40's for highs instead of everyone talking possible 50's and maybe 60's. That ridge is expected to come east but it seems to be peaking now and will slowly falll apart as it moves east. i see more of a flat flow across the country with a slight northerly component to winds across PA on north leading to not so warm temps but just slightly above. We will see but the models have gone from cold cold temps to warmer warmer temps. Gotta meet somewhere in between right now. All the teleconnections point to neutral conditions during this time period. Without the teleconnections showing a warm signature really how warm will this get? -------------------- Tylor

woke up to a reading of -17F here, now up to 12F. Car had a bit of a tough time getting started at that temp...my kids seemed to enjoy being out in it though, they were sledding off the front porch prior to school and weren't complaining at all.
