Models are starting to show a post Thanksgiving storm . -NAO and +PNA with a -WPO. I think it's a little too early for the coast to see snow but if this storm does materialize, I think inland areas might have a chance of some snow. ( that's if the storm even happens)

18z GEFS has the 2 inch line into NYC throughout the run with a lot of snow for inland areas and near the lakes region

I think we will all see some snow with this upcoming pattern

Looks like all the models now have a storm before Turkey Day

Right now, it looks warm for our area but we have to see if the models correct the storm to the south with the block in place.

QUOTE(ClicheVortex2014 @ Nov 11 2017, 06:54 PM) *
If you look at GFS 48-hour change in 500mb geopotential heights, the entire run has negative values in the subarctic including Greenland. In other words, GFS is trending toward weaker blocking. Playing through the most recent runs is interesting because you can watch the PV gain strength, especially past day 8. As that happens, HLB weakens.

GFS has been lacking behind to the Euro in regards to the blocking. It usually does this when the pattern changes. It will catch on.

Watch for a storm along the east coast near Thanksgiving week. Rain or snow will be determined near the event ( if there is one )

AO is tanking
NAO is dropping
PNA is rising towards neutral

Upton has a possible mix even for the coast on sunday

"Sunday another shortwave with more energy is expected to pass through the area Sunday and Sunday night. With the cold airmass retreating and modifying Sunday precipitation could potentially begin as snow and/or rain inland with a mix possibly even down to the coast early Sunday."

Nam adjusted west but has 3 lows now

Nam still has 3 + inches of rain for the NYC area but the best winds are when the storm passes.

Next big storm will be Sunday into Monday. A lot of rain and wind possible.

The models are starting to show a sub 980 low near our area getting absorbed by the incoming trough

We still have to see if the low does south turns into a tropical storm. I doubt it will have enough time to become a hurricane.

This looks like a nasty hybrid/ Nor easter for late Sunday into Monday.

This might be an early winter for a lot of areas in the east. La Nina winters are usually front loaded.
