18z GFS looks similar to 12z and maybe a touch north.

Actually looks a little stronger.

Between the two storms 18-22" of snow. Give me a break GFS, stop taking the drugs.

After these two synoptic storms comes the clipper train laugh.gif

And after all that, GFS shows another system right on the heels of this one:

Dream pattern, in other words - probably won't happen.

I'm liking what I'm seeing... plus it's within 160 hours already so at least I won't torture myself for a week watching it all fall apart! Lmao

Ok gfs. Weve seen a foot 90 hours away become an inch. Not gonna even think its a possibility. Not even gonna think of a big storm. But I will have a good time tracking.

Uhmmmmm.....Nope...

Only in too perfect of a storm track scenario. Slightly better odds this happening than hitting the Powerball.

It is fun to look at, though..

The storm track looks stable through about hour 240, but a strongly amplified system (perhaps feb 6-8) would break this down. So yeah, probably won't happen

All model guidance is just that, guidance. It is the responsibility of the forecaster to take that information, make it better, and appropriately communicate the improved forecast to users.

We live in a day and age where the quantity of model guidance is overwhelming, particularly within 24 hours of an event. We must remind ourselves that all models are wrong, but some are more useful than others.

This reminds me of a pre Christmas storm in I believe 2004. GFS started showing it about 5 days out and it just kept growing. I laughed it off, got 24 inches of snow. Not saying this will happen, just saying it can.
