Cold rain here on LI. sad.gif

It's pretty much rain everywhere with this storm outside of extreme NNE. Surface temps are actually not super warm but there is absolutely no cold air in the upper levels anywhere in the northeast.

It's 34F here with plain jane rain. There are reports of some icing in Western Connecticut above 1,000' and also in the Berkshire's in Massachusetts.

even with today's rainstorm. surprisingly there still looks like there is some snow on the ground in the new paltz area, I am still not holding out any hopes of seeing any snow on the ground when I go back there though with what the next 2 days have in store.

when are you heading back? hopefully two weeks after this get a decidedly more wintry look to the landscape again for this region. Increasingly feeling good about a positive finish to January for the region...yes i'm definitely late to the game on this premonition.

Headed back next Friday, expecting frigid temps for next weekend with basically no snowpack left unless the mid week storm next week shifts north. We'll see. I also am leaning with the idea of the last 10 days of January being pretty cold at least in the northeast but cold may not necessarily mean wintry if storms get supressed.

All snow gone here for 2 days now. The 40s slowly ate it then the rain made is disappear before the fog feasted on it. lol
