Really cool to see this storm unfold. Sitting at a 962mb storm with a slight negative tilt trough in Quebec. Winds have knocked the power out only slightly three different times. When the cold front came through early this morning 4:30-5am around 7am and maybe a half hour ago. Highest gust so far 45mph at 4:53am this morning.

http://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KLNS.html

Definitely fulfilled the criteria for a wind advisory. West winds are always our strongest unless we get storm sort of like this one only happening further to the west where we can get that low level jet cranking into the region and a slightly negative tilt trough flying through the region. I can only imagine the winds they are experiencing near Nova Scotia and NW if we are getting this down here.

Impressive storm overall.

Storm woke me up at 430am with some of the hardest rain I've seen and heard ever. Would love to have had a rain guage outside my apartment building to see what fell.

Im a 1/4m from centre island where the gust was reported. From about 3-445 It was like a repeat of sandy. Trees are down and they actually cancelled all classes in our school district.

Currently having an INTENSE flizzard here in the City of Schenectady. Basically whiteout conditions, can barely see across the street. Literally snowing sideways. Really wasn't expecting this. It's actually sort of cool!

Just had the same - although I was sort of expecting this considering this setup supported streamers and lake effect squalls getting all the way to Albany and surrounding areas... there is already a thread for it. There's probably going to be additional snow showers tonight and early tomorrow, probably less than 1".

Wind Run: A measurement of how much wind has passed a given point in a period of time. A wind blowing at three miles per hour for an entire hour would give a wind run of three miles.

Todays wind run surpassed Hurricane Sandy. The Sustained winds were also more than Sandy. However Sandy's Wind Gust will be in my All time record book for a long time.

Winds have been going all day from 25-35mph all day and still going so the wind run meter is still running.

Check out the Max temp for the day and what time it came.

Done!!

As I posted earlier today, I had readings that were only 1 mph lower than the gusts we saw inland here from Sandy. Pretty impressive stuff.
