Well I was clicking on parts of SW VA on the NWS website-- and a few miles west of Wilson, VA was reporting Light Snow.. that's all I could find at the moment.

QUOTE(BRONXstormWATCHER @ Feb 9 2010, 01:39 AM)
yeah but even the gfs is trending closer and wetter closer to the coast line from cape may to eastern l.i..i just don't see how n.y.c doesn't get socked by this monster..if you apply common logic by the time its south of l.i it should be stronger then the benchmark off the delmarva coast..

From the last thread...wanted to get back with you on my thoughts:
I understand that, i guess what i am trying to say is I see the storm a bit further south and west and not hugging the coast so much from cape may to RI. I don't think the GFS is trending but has rather locked in pretty good but the latest run I think is a little off base in its bit of a jog during the early hours of the run. HPC made some very good comments regarind their model usage for the short term. Lets see how this thing bombs out over Delmarva and how this winds up...like I said...NYC could get a fairly large storm out of this w/8-12 inches and stiff winds to blow that stuff around.

That's because this storm isn't pre-loaded with Pacific and Gulf moisture.

Well every time a storm starts out with limited moisture south central PA is hard press to get much unless the storm actually throws back precip when it gets to the Atlantic which doesnt happen to much unless its a deep low. But im not bitter casting I was just saying tongue.gif

He meant rapid intensification... but from now on just a general good idea to follow... dont abbreviate phrases that will share letters with common things like states... just a good common sense idea to limit confusion.

time will tell soon enough...there have been some pretty good ideas floating around here. If you're in the DC region norht to PHL I think you are in good shape for 15+ snows . Aside from the very latest GFS I think you are looking at an all out Blizzard in those area and a very tough call North of PHL into NYC. There may be some very strong winds up in NYC and while they may not necessarily have the snow for what many people associate a blizzard with, it may be warranted that they see blizzard warnings w/ 8-12 inches of snow and the strong winds. Just my two cents but I think it is strongly supported by several runs of various models and the latest HPC statements discounting the latest jog a bit to the NE. I may be splitting hears tho b/c with winds as they are forecasted I think those places that do not get into the upper teens with snowfall may be caught up in a whirlwind.
