Personally, I will be more focusing on YVRish areas, but feel free to also talk about other west coast areas.

Here are some helpful images that shows how the arctic air wants to slide into SW BC in the extreme LR.

With the potential to break the so far 1000+ day snow drought, I thought it'd be appropriate to have this thread so we can post maps of snow chances. It's pretty horrendous over here for snow, so it's exciting to have as great a chance at snow in a long time. Here's a link to a blog post from a TWN met to start off this thread: http://50shadesofvan.com/blog/2016/11/30/c...blast-potential

This is one of my favourite holidays of the year, and it's only just over 3 weeks away. I'm not sure yet what the weather will be like for everyone here, but probably starting next week the long range will almost reach the Thanksgiving weekend. smile.gif

Let's start discussing! Meteorological Spring is here next Tuesday, so this years meteorological Winter is basically over.

Let's start with the ENSO. It appears more and more models are in agreement that we are heading to a Nina. I know that in years like 2012, the east coast had a really early Spring, and the west coast was coldish/wet. What do you think will happen?

I'm hoping Vancouver and surrounding lowland cities will actually get accumulating snow for this winter. I would also love for another coast to coast to coast white Christmas like 2008!

Nobody talks about us, so I might as well talk about us.

Here's a warning from Environment Canada

3:42 PM PST Wednesday 11 November 2015
Rainfall warning in effect for:

Fraser Valley - east including Chilliwack
Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A storm will approach the North Coast tonight. The associated cold front will sweep across Vancouver Island on Thursday. Heavy rain will develop ahead of the front beginning early Thursday across the South Coast and continuing through Friday. Total amounts of 50 to 100 mm are expected over a 24 to 36 hour period.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm.

Here's the 00z GFS

Mountains get plastered with snow from the GEM

12Z JMA plasters BC, WA and OR coast with precipitation.

Anyone have any thoughts on this behemoth of a storm?
