Official report from Paducah is 8.1 inches. Now I'm taking a break from cleaning the driveway. It's warmed up to 8 F. Supposed to be only down to 3 degrees tonight but I'm not sure it will stop there. Really nice crop of icicles formed off the south side of the 12:12 roof from the bright sun. Are they anything to worry about?

[attachment=343936:Icicles_1_16_18.jpg]

I would get those off, and if possible the snow above them, or they're just coming back. Maybe a roof rake so you can be on the ground. That ice is damming up and getting between and under shingles. Hopefully, you'll warm up very soon. Those are formed by heat escaping the attic, and melting the snow. Since it's so cold and water can't flow through and down your gutters, the ice just builds up more and more. The ultimate cure? More attic insulation.

I know they also sell those plug in roof snow melting systems, but that's a band aid to the real source problem. You probably knew all of this already, though.....and to think you live in KY!

If it doesn't snow enough to shut it all down, it might as well be Summer!

Snow is actually coming in harder now. This might be another 5"-er. It would be the third of the year.

That looks pretty accurate (at least IMBY) had just a shade over 2 inches. Circled the area.

Snowed pretty much all day and ended up with a scoshe over 2 inches. Buddy up in Zanesville said he ended up with 5.

smile.gif Yeah,I was longing to be in the all day snow zone. Not that it all was particularly heavy, just getting some extended snow is a good thing..

Here's an oddity. It was snowing very lightly when I got up this morning, but there weren't any clouds! blink.gif Temperature was about 10 F. Was that diamond dust? It actually left a thin coating on some surfaces.

One does occasionally see this when it is very cold (especially I have noticed when below zero). Ringing every bit of the moisture from the air...
