^Meanwhile, back to the weather
I think there are 2 possibilties the models (and everyones best guess) is happening with the pattern. We are either falling back to the same pattern we had before Dec.21 with a cold west and warm east, and warm, cutter storms or this warmth spell is merily a thaw, a blip back to the old pattern, and winter will return once again near Jan.20th. I thing the latter is happening, since the models (Euro) seem to trend to cooler conditions around that time, but because they have been back and forth a lot lately, I can't really back that up. Regardless, I think this will continue to be flip, floppy, warmish winter with short lived cold shots, and the end of Jan beginign of Feb will feature the coldest temps. Nobody promised a super cold winter, just one that was better then last year. So far the last 2 weeks have been better for most locations in S. Ont and S. Quebec I would think... |

A few pics of the snow here before the mild spell. Looks good my friend, I wanted to take photo's of the snowbanks as well before our mild spell, many are 4 or 5 feet high, and thats just with my snowblower and shoveling, but I'm at work today, so they will have to be night shots tonight. Just as a note, EC currently measure 69 cms on the ground, I measure almost 80 cms. To put that in perspective, the last time we had this much snow on the ground was March 8, and you know the year...2008 And the last time we had this much snow on the ground at the begining of January, well EC stats for snow on the ground only go back to 1960, and I can't find any year with this much snow on ground at this time. 2008, 1996, 1978 and 1971 all come close with around 40 + cms. And these were all great snow years, sooo will 2013 go down as a great year as well?? This has certainly been a great start to winter, even if it was late This post has been edited by JJ Snowlover: Jan 7 2013, 12:22 PM |

Today being Monday, it's time for the weekly cpc/ncep ENSO update/discussion at http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/*bleep*...s-fcsts-web.pdf They show Nino 3.4 as -0.3, still in neutral territory.

Hey guys, since 2012-2013 winter is WELL in progress and most of the talk here seems to be off-topic rants about each other, we're closing this thread. REMINDER: If you're not talking about the weather, your account can be warned.
