Well our thaw was bigger than all yours tongue.gif , totally crazy actually with +9c Friday, near +15c Friday and near +14c Sunday and stayed well above freezing for 3 days. We never went into the mild spell with a big snowpack (14cm) but it was decimated by Saturday morning, and by sunday even all the snow banks (bar maybe a few left in the big lots). The funny thing is I doubt we will see a weekend as warm as that even in May. This winter so far has had some extreme warm spells, we had the warmest December day on record and the warmest 2 consecutive days on record in January.....I guess this is climate change....made hay whilst the warmth reigned as it made it easy to take down all the Christmas lights etc, nice actually for hiking in lighter clothes without the worry of slipping too.
Normal service is resumed today waking up to a dusting of snow this morning with flurries about, and a snowy/icy system here tonight/tomorrow.

Youíve had some systems that have really brought in some warm weather this year. Iím sure things will turn around for you later in the season and the systems that have tracked west will track more east.

One thing is for sure there will be a lot of systems in play the second half of January, the first one on Jan 20 is trending south,if we can get a stronger deeper cold push behind the system it might come east, one to keep an eye on anyway.

Funny cause TWN basically wiped out any snow totals for the next two weeks minus one or two days with less than 1cm around the weekend when we get the rain...

It's not been a complete disaster so far, after a mild start, the period from mid December to the middle of last week was generally pretty wintry (over 80cm of snow in that period) with one bigger storm and a fair bit of snow from smaller systems/squalls. We always get bouts of milder systems so we're well used to the up and down style. I have been here a good few years now so you do start to realise too much snow can become tiring to deal with so will not be too upset with a winter with less snow than normal, but as a snowlover would never turn it down if it wants to go mad with storms in Feb/March. laugh.gif

We have a classic mess to deal with tomorrow, about 5cm of snow then 25mm of frozen precip of ice pellets and freezing rain, question is how much will be freezing rain as for sure it looks like now temps will stay below zero for the duration of the storm and afterwards so is going to be icy!
