A lot of users left a while ago, after there some some dispute about another weather forum and some meteorologist going away. None of that was any of my concern, though.

Considering where this occurred - hope you didn't have a hand in it laugh.gif

Funny enough it isn't the mods doing the warnings 9/10 times.

Been thinking the same. The whole Sandy Hook thread IMO was doing fine. Saw it was closed and now contemplating leaving myself. Contrary to what is believed, the world isn't all flowers, rainbows and unicorns.

We live in a free market type of world. When there are better options, individuals will select the best one.

Most weather posters here have moved to various other boards, like Americanwx.com. The truth is that this board became too much for many people including myself. I know many other top posters from various regions that have left for the same reasons.

Everything was over moderated, it was no longer enjoyable, maybe accuweather is trying to target the 10-15 year old audience, and thats fine, but for the rest of us, this board presented an inferior product.

Furthermore, the board failed to upgrade anything, it remains the exact same thing that i joined back in 2009. We are watching an old-fashioned, out of date, authoritarian specimen die a slow, but steady death.

I agree with you.

In 2009, I really enjoyed all parts of the forum.

Now, I'll stick to any midwest storm, and that's about it.

P.S, look at every member on this page. All 08 or 09ers.

I sense a lot of Sour Grapes in here and I know them when I see them....
I am the Queen of Sour Grapes. I can begin reading a particular thread
and then usually predict within a few posts if it will eventually become
'locked' and usually I am correct. Not the weather threads, I am out of
my element there though the grahs are pretty. It's when the personal
insults start flying, like arrows seeking the heart (correlation intended)
for the worst amount of damage in the most painful way. When you can't
express yourself without using words like 'stupid' and 'ignorant' and belitteling
a person's home state...then you need to go back and study your subject
matter, get more facts, and then come back with some truth on your side.
Truth doesn't need to insult the other side and it's integrity holds up.

If you can't think of something profound to say about your side to
impress people with, then at least think of a good quote by someone
else, which I shall do here...simply because I love it. From the
book 'Keep The River On Your Right' by artist, explorer, writer, and
amateur anthropoligist Tobias Scheenbaum (sp) who lived with and
studied some of the world's most primitive cultures:

"Examine every path carefully, as often and as intently as you need to.
And then ask yourself just one question....does this path have a heart?"

I'm not sure if that was directed at me, but I'm simply telling the truth.

The evidence is all around, it's hard to handle the truth sometimes, but you cant change how this place was run into the ground. That being said, i dont even know if you are a weather poster, so maybe it doesnt matter to you.

I am here. I have been to Americanwx. There are a handful of kind people, and that's it. That forum is anything but welcoming. I am surprised people like it there. If Accuwx dies, it will greatly impact me.

It's stated in the Terms and Conditions, per the Accuweather Corporate level.

Anyone that has questions I suggest you PM WeatherMatrix (Jesse) and not discuss it here.

Honestly, this forum hasn't improved since 2009. If you let anything stay the same for around 3 or more years, it's bound to start dying out.

For example, the post count and becoming an "F5 Superstorm" after 500 posts. They were going to change it, but nothing happened.

People I registered for have left. I always enjoyed seeing Chicago Storm's posts, now he doesn't come here anymore.

Also, the forums are more active, it's just the amount of guests to member rate has gone higher. People are just looking over the forums, not registering and posting. People are afraid to say something wrong and get bashed.

There's a lot of reasons for the decline in the forum in the recent years that I don't have the energy to go into detail right now, but one of them at least in my opinion - regarding the weather section, that is - is that these forums as long as I can remember never had many professional meteorologists posting as with some of the other forums, and especially back in 2008 and 2009 had much more wishcasting/bittercasting, personal attacks and less professional analyzing. A lot of these posters have left and/or been banned, but even since their departure, at least from what I've seen (others may have seen/heard different opinions, so it would be understandable if some here disagree with this observation), this forum is still often being regarded as a wishcasting forum, and we haven't seen many new, actual knowledgeable posters join since about 2010; in fact, many of them have partially or completely left. This can be attributed to different factors, which from what I've seen in different cases often include the moderating policies, occasional personal attacks, attractiveness of other forums regarding appearance/# of posters/quality of posts as opposed to this one, etc. As someone else noted here, most of the members here, myself included, are from '08 or '09. Just giving my two cents...
