Being in 9 schools through 12 years of primary schooling and 3 colleges in 6 years in getting my degree - I really don't have any long term childhood friends.

Try to talk it out in a non-confrontational manner

My grandfather loved to play guitar and hadn't had a working amp in a couple of years. In 1997 we knew it was probably going to be his last Christmas, he had been sick with cancer for almost four years that point. I did the unexpected, told no one, and bought him a new amp. The look on his face was priceless. I knew at that point what it was like for him to buy me baseball cards or model trains when I was a kid.

Yes. My wife put the tree up one week after Halloween.
