Caps got forked - 5-0 what a pathetic excuse of a game 7.

Bruins shocked the Leafs.

With Ottawa being eliminated - there will not be a Canadian NHL Champion for the 20th year in a row.

Looking forward to the Bruins v. Blackhawks matchup. Been warning the Bruins all season and didn't know they had the ability to thoroughly dominate the Pens.

Heard that with the Stanley Cup being between the Blackhawks and the Bruins - it is the 1st time in 34 years that two of the original six teams of the NHL have competed for the Stanley cup.

The orignal NHL teams were -

Boston Bruins
Chicago Blackhawks
Detroit Redwings
Montreal Canadians
New York Rangers
Toronto Maple Leafs

Bruins take game 2, 2-1 in another overtime thriller. This series is shaping up to be a classic between 2 original 6. The Blackhawks seem quicker and display more finesse. The B's are a physical, pounding type of hockey. As is the case so often in The NHL playoffs, goal trending is paramount. Rask should get a pretty good contract no mater what the outcome of the finals, he has clearly shown what he can do between the pipes.

The Blackhawks look good, I was worried until later in game 2. I think the physicality of the B's will wear down the Blackhawks over the course of the series.

Go Bruins!

What is the likelyhood of a 7 game - all OT series?

I was fantasizing about the same thing, certainly would make for an epic finals. I'm obviously pulling for my B's, but these games are fun to watch no matter what.

Did a bit of quick research, these numbers are not exact, but very close.

Since going to a best of 7 format in 1931, the Stanley Cup finals have gone to 7 games 16 times~20% (6 out of the last 11)

I may have miss counted but since 1927, It looks like 77 out of 433 finals games have gone to OT. ~18%

Using my limited statistical analytic abilities. I come up with a 0.0001% chance that we see 7 OT games in the finals.

EDIT: Of note, the 1951 finals was won by Toronto over Montreal 4-1 in 5 OT games

Almost feel cheated after that one huh laugh.gif , Kinda disappointed to see that Hossa couldn't play, I like to see both teams BEST out there competing. Rask was solid yet again, although despite good scoring chances for the Hawks, Rask didn't seem to have to make spectacular plays.

I imagine the Hawks will play with a bit of desperation tonight, don't wanna go down 3-1. Hopeful Hossa plays, and its a wide open game.

Bruins win in a scorefest 6-4
