Quite the nice surprise... 8.5" here since yesterday evening. About 5" remaining on the warm ground. Definitely felt, and looked, like winter today.

Speaking for my home area in NE OH, yes, LE is still possible in March (and April). We had some LE last week and some due again today/tonight. But since the difference in the air and water temps aren't as great as in the late fall and early winter, they don't tend be as significant as earlier in the season. Nonetheless, you can still get some "decent" amounts....see link below. tongue.gifsmile.gif

http://www.weather.gov/cle/event_20070405_..._lakeeffectsnow

I don't have OHBlizzard's link to the GL water temp maps, so maybe he can help you out with your "temp" question.

Have been keeping the discussion mainly in the synoptic thread, but should a least post a loop of the current lake effect in here as well. 2.5" here in the last hour under this band.

Other than watching it fall out the window, I didn't go out or check. Too late at that time for a 4:30 am wake up call. But it came down hard for 1/2 hr to 45 min as the band was pretty narrow and transient at that time. BTW, congrats on your totals!!! You were definitely in the jackpot zone!

Thanks JD, appreciate it. I'm glad that the NE OH crew scored a solid all around event for all of us. Our big lake to the north bailed us out again. Someday we will get our elusive big dog synoptic snowstorm.

Current loop. More or less just down to mood flakes at this point. Maybe accumulating a tenth or two an hour, but nothing significant here. Activity looks a bit better out toward JD's way currently. Maybe up to an inch in spots the rest of the afternoon, but that should about do it.

Activity actually should ramp up again a bit going through the evening/overnight. Of course nothing like last night, but up to a couple inches in spots is not out of the question. Admittedly I have not looked too in depth at the setup for tonight however.

Wow! I didn't realize snow totals got that high. We were right at 7" . had some heavy snows last night, but our main event was from about 6am until 1pm yesterday in the daylight cutting totals back a good deal. I bet we would have finished near a foot if it was January as it was snowing really hard for several hours.

Yeah it really came down here Tuesday night. One of the more significant overnight lake effect events I have had here in the last few years. My final tally came in at 13.2" after all said and done. Normally I'm a fairly good eyeball-er, but I was off my game yesterday when I made that post laugh.gif Widespread 10-14" amounts were common in this general area. Nice to finally get a bigger event, it seems like its been forever since the last one.

Tuesday morning's setup was great for your location. NE/N is certainly not the most common low-level flow, but you always do well when we get it.

Very nice! There was a nice band hanging around your area overnight.

Nothing like that here. Mainly just light snow that has added up to what looks like about a half an inch.
