iPhone Weather Question, How to get radar & warnings Options

I hate to revive such an old topic, but i am thinking about upgrading to an iPhone here soon, Can i use this reliably to keep me updated on the current weather watches, alerts and checking radar? I have a real issue with any type of severe weather and want to have every bit of an advantage to keep me and my family safe wherever i am.
