Temps should fall when precip arrives due to low dewpoint and the artic front surging in, but probably not too rapidly because precip will not be heavy. We are kind of in a bind because on one hand if the artic front moves in too quickly it will dry the storm out so we want to flow to stay juicy so precip moves north but in another sense if the artic front is held off there is no source of cold air for coastal regions. Sigh.

Was just thinking the exact same thing...temps have been holding steady at 41 degrees for the past few hours here, seems like the cold air is taking its sweet time.

NYC was less affected by the virga of 12/19/09 but up here it's still the virga blizzard; 16 hours of virga and maybe 4 hours of heavy snow. 1/30/10 was also a virga storm up here, virga made it up to SE NY and SW CT, but no one north of central NJ got anything.

One of those storms there was an extremely sharp cutoff maybe 1/30/10. If my memory seves me right......

Central Park...little if anything
SI Ferry.....couple inches (per the live news reporter on tv)
Northern Monmouth Cty....6-8
Northern Ocean Cty........12-15

Also....a couple storms hit ACY with 6-8 and nothing here

I think that was 2/5/10... southernmost NYC had a few inches (maybe 6" or so?), in NE NJ I didn't even have a single flake.

Wow has anyone seen the Hi-Res 18z NAM Simulated Radar. It's very impressive, especially along the jersey shore and the Delmarva. Very interesting. I wish I can post but I can't. Hopefully someone else can post it.

Virga Storm from about Northern Ocean Cty North. Can't see it reaching the ground as the cold air will win out and push the moisture east
