I apologize for those on vacation at the beaches this weekend for all the rain and flooding. My brother - a.k.a. "The Bringer of Rain", has taken the family to Ocean City, MD again this weekend for the following week. Where he goes, clouds and rain follow. It is uncanny how bad his luck is. The one time he lucked out with no rain on a trip was to Disney World and there was a record cold snap instead.

I actually posted a short tidbit about this August vs last August in the Summer 2017 thread. Here it is again for anyone who is interested.

"As of August 11th (now the 12th too which was a high of 79) we have already had more days with a low below 60 and highs below 80 this month than all of last August. We also have not had a day at 86 or warmer since July 21st, quite a long (and unusual for late July/early August) stretch for us to go without reaching that temperate. Last August was insanely warm so this is a welcome change. Hopefully the lower temperatures continue straight through to winter. "

Along with that, the lowest temperate in August 2016 was 56, we already had a low of 54 on the 9th.

Still double cutting the lawn every 5 days or so, I'm starting to think that fertilizing the grass back in April then again in the beginning of June was a bad idea, I'm literally cutting 3" off with each lawn mowing, this summer has been consistently wet.

Yea Philly doesn't seem to be getting it laugh.gif Keeps seeing lulls in the next week, and we never get them. Seriously, he as missed out on a few, but for most of the region this has been the worst, long term, ugly wet pattern in many years. Today's forecast changed... again.

Yesterday forecast high 79F, actual 68F. less then quarter inch foretasted, 1" received(no thunderstorms). Hard to make this stuff up. Today, fog, drizzle and 67F at 11 am.

I cannot remember a summer when we received rain like this. Cascade is typically a very rainy, wet, place but this is out of hand. Not used to "full day" fog days in the summer time.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Tonight through Wednesday night area will be under the influence
of high pressure. Lows tonight and Wednesday night in the upper
60s west of I-95, lower 70s east. Highs Wednesday around 90.

Thursday morning should be dry. It appears that a warm front
will approach the area during the day bringing a chance of
showers and thunderstorms to the region during the aftenoon,
although the models appear to be slowing down the approach of
this system so PoPs may have to be pushed back with later
forecast packages.

While many parts of the disco is hilarious now that a flash flood warning has been issued for eastern MD. I like the bolded. I'll check in NWS. If this was winter the public would be asking for their heads.

Maybe 1992? That was a cloudy and rainy summer (and chilly). July 4th cookout in the rain with sweatshirts in Maryland. The summers of 1996 and 2003 were also very wet, but (most notably in 2003) we were talking about humid days and then thunderstorms nearly every evening...but it wasn't as cloudy and dreary as '92. July 2000 was cool, wet and cloudy too but I don't think that was as long lasting as this year.

Having spent some time at Terra Alta it was foggy nearly every morning except when there in the winter, even when the valleys/flat land to the east was clear.

had a drizzle about 1300 hours and that was it. Around 1900 hours it looked like the skies were going to just erupt and open up over NYC with how black the skies were.

Mornings in the summer are very often foggy here which is a typical characteristic of the ridges of the apps, (as I know you know that I know you know that I know) but it usually burns off. This year has been quite different. I don't remember 92' all that well as I was a hideously overgrown 10 year old at that point. Not uncommon for us to have a couple summer days in 50's/60's with fog, but this has been unusual.

It was supposed to be back when I posted that. tongue.gif Was completely overcast till yesterday evening when the sun finally came out. Managed just under a tenth of an inch on Monday evening. Just saw a little mist yesterday. Onto the chance of T-storms on Thursday and Friday. At least race weekend at Pocono is looking good for me this year. cool.gif
