Looks like we maxed out at 90F with the heat index over 100F before the storm. Our first such day since Aug 1st.

I see a 3" dot rainfall total east of Harrisburg. ohmy.gif
https://www.wunderground.com/weather-radar/...c%20NJ&MR=1

Yep - returned some rental equipment to a place near Hershey and you could tell they got whacked from there on east. Meanwhile, not even enough rain to cover most of the bottom of the rain gauge on UTS Hill.

Heard plenty of thunder and it did pour for about 22 seconds, but then only a brief drizzle.

Yup Philly, we got rocked at home about 4:30 today, then played in golf tourney in Kutztown that got stopped around 3. They waited too long to call it. Drive back east to Allentown was bad. Lots of flooded roads. Yup, it is the weekend so will empty 3 inches + out of pool again... (think this is 6th straight weekend of doing that), then will double cut the grass again. It is so wet underneath that even with the relative lack of rain this week it just keeps on growing, I am sure this helped wink.gif
Again, my water coming out of the taps smells like sulfur. Happens every time we get too much rain, but this is nearing unprecedented territory. If we get any next weekend, it may be a mix, but the sun angle may help..........

FWIW, uh this storm had to rock. Humidity levels in that tournament were as bad as I have ever felt it. Making things worse was the fact that the sun can out for a few hours. Told our foursome that when the front hits, golf is over. Weather geek left then, and the tool boxes were trying to wait it out to see if they could get back out to finish. Guess no one had radar on their phone, cuz round 2 was quickly following the first batch. Good news is weather geek nailed the forecast yesterday. Told my foursome we would have a break after about 10 am, then the hammer would come in around 3. At least I nailed that. didn't nail the drives all day sad.gif

Decided to break things up and drain the pool tonight. Took about 1/2 hour. Water was about an inch over the skimmer, and it should be about 2 inches below the top, plus still more water on the cover. Serious dump this morning, with power out, then another longer dump with round 2. The amount of rain we have gotten the last several months since April is incredible, and that is with just one tropical storm remnant early on. If we get a good tropical system like we many times get this time of year into September, it's not going to be good. Ground is saturated, rivers are running real high(hear fishing is brutal). Said earlier I think, we didn't have hardly any rain this week at all and the grass still blew up.

The storms fizzled out, which is just as well because we have been swamped (in more ways than one) with rain this year. An oddity that I discovered this afternoon was that the heat index at Ithaca, NY (about 35 minutes from the Binghamton airport as the bird flies) had a heat index of 91 degrees at 4 this afternoon. The Binghamton airport had a heat index of a mere 79 degrees. Temperature-wise, we never made it past 79 degrees because the clouds were slow to break up.

Not sure how much fell IMBY, but surely 1-2". It was a nice moderate, soaking rain that is greatly appreciated by many.

Once they cancelled the round I left, so I actually was driving east away from the beast. There was quite a bit of thunder and lightning, wind, and the rain was just beginning. So I did not see any hail, but the sky was super dark, so I wouldn't be surprised if they saw some. I will say though that I headed due east to a bar for some drinks and food; I did not head north to my house. The reason I bring this up is the worst of the storm appeared to be south of New Tripoli, hitting Berks Cty and then southern half of Lehigh Cty. So where I ended up seemed to be on that line, and there was a lot of thunder, few lightning bolts, torrential rains and winds(no hail) that lasted quite a while. There was actually a second batch that merged with the first, but I think the storm weakened as far as the severe stuff after Berks Cty. The reason I had so much rain totals was the over night round late Thursday night was a total dump. Sorry for the long answer laugh.gif

Rainfall Totals:

Love the detail with this one Philly! As with many T&L storms huge difference within 2-3 miles. I have never seen a breakdown like this, guessing it is trained spotters. Look at the disparity in Schnecksville, which aint exactly a big city laugh.gif
and also vs. Orefield, which is right next to Schnecksville. Some huge totals on that list.... again....

Heads up UTS:

Just caught the very southern edge of the worst of it. Very cool, rapidly rising updrafts visible with lower cloud deck - maybe blowing off the periphery of the cell to my N.
