So not sure why there is no thread for the 'heatwave' which is going to effect the region early this week. Talking low to mid 80's for Monday through Wednesday, pretty warm for this time of year. tongue.gif

Heatwave or Heat? Lol. Pretty sure nobody is getting a heatwave except maybe down south?

But yeah, this upcoming heat blast is near the extreme side of the scale.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New York NY
206 PM EDT Sun Oct 16 2016

Anomalously warm weather pattern across the eastern United States
continues into Tuesday with deep layered ridging centered across the
southeast. This will direct unseasonably warm air into the region.
850 hPa temperatures are forecast to rise to 16-18C, 10-15C above
normal for this time of year. We wont mix up to this level, but
even mixing close to 900-925 hPa should yield record warmth,
especially with partly cloudy skies. Warmest temperatures will be
across the NYC metro, NE NJ, and the interior where readings
should reach the lower 80s. Elsewhere, highs will be in the middle
and upper 70s due to onshore flow. See climate section below for
record highs for October 18.

&&

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Deep layered ridging shifts towards the western Atlantic on
Wednesday with unseasonably warm conditions continuing. A cold front
approaches from the northwest late Wednesday. Based on progged temps
at the top of the mixed layer, lower 80s are expected in the city
for on Wednesday as well as in parts of NE NJ and the lower Hudson
Valley. See the climate section below for records on October 19
.

Wednesday's record is also 82, but from the previous year, 1963. Back-to-back warm October's at the same time.. neat.

Looks like one really warm day for us...today upper 60s which is warm, then tomorrow onshore flow keeps us around 60F, then 74F predicted for Wednesday. Late in the fall for us to be getting these temps but not at all unprecedented. We had 83F for example on 10/14/95.

Yeah, that's why I had heatwave in quotes. laugh.gif I'll change if too much of an issue, I know it didn't meet the 90 for 3 days criteria.

Ticked an item off the bucket list - played a round at a country club where I had worked as a lowly servant back in the mid-80's (bartender).

What a beautiful day for hitting the links (although it's not a links course) with a good buddy. Not a single bead of sweat, not too sunny, temps from the upper 60's to upper 70's (by rounds end) with an occasional light breeze.

The back drop of the just changing foliage of Blue Mountain provided a backdrop.

It was almost beautiful to distraction. ohmy.gif cool.gif

Edit to add that we just officially hit the 8-0 mark here in the Cap region of PA.

Not in the region this thread talks about, but I hit a record of 88 today in Moline, IL. Not a fan of this weather. Ready for the beautiful fall weather of last week to come back.

Yeah - you guys can keep that. Although I have a hunch some IMBY thermos might climb that far, over here, tomorrow.

Impressive and extreme surge of heat. Just doesn't wanna die yet. Waiting for that to push east now. That's why today and tomorrow were the warmest days here.

6amEST temps

Side Note: Again I'm seeing blues over Alberta/Saskatchwan. Have they been out of the 30s past week?

Warm 57F here this morning. Doors-Windows open. Wow at Michigan, IL & IN!

Too bad this wasn't over the weekend because the beaches would be pretty crowded.
