It is really kinda sad.. but in my area i have only seen pea sized hail! Very sad. I want to see what is categorized as large hail (now 1"). I have seen many hail storms living up near allentown in PA. Almost every storm 2 years ago had hail in it! gotta love mountains and valleys.

Baseball sized hail back home in VA...it was fun trying to find a place to park the car where the hail couldn't get it. It didn't help that I was driving either...

I've seen quarter sized hail fall from the sky-pretty awesome!
It was about 7 miles from my house and in my county here in VA.

Nickel-sized is the worst I SAW.
Quarter sized was probally in a tornado warning with 50-mph winds and large hail I could hear.

Somewhere close to nickel sized. We got a huge hailstorm last spring up here and the ground was covered with hail at the end. Now that I think about it, it might have only been dime sized. It was the volume not the size that was impressive. At home I think I've only ever seen hail twice and that was pea size both times. I'm sure it's occured other times but I only remember two of them.

I've only seen pea sized hail here in New Jersey. I did see nickel size hail while in Virginia years ago. For me it was a scary experience since I had never even seen it that big up until that point.

This is why i love East PA sometimes we get this fancy little trough called a lee trough that when in the afternoon if we get warm enough and it is really cold aloft. We can get some major hailstorms and possibly tornadoes once the energy or storms rolls off the mountains! Very cool occurence. Like supercell storms. it is very rare for us to get this though. We need a very strong storm to come rolling in!

I have seen very strong winds but not huge hail. Im gonna look to see if i can find any reports of large hail in East PA!

The highest wind was around 85mph.. microburst... Anybody else seen high winds like this. I know you midwest folks have with the derechos!

I'm thinking about the same storm I think. South of Detroit, it was pretty close to quarter size hail. It was the thickest on the ground I had ever seen. I haven't seen too many hail storms, at least that were impressive enough to make me remember them, but I remember that one. What a sight!

I've seen hail on tornado chasers the size of baseballs. They pwn your windshield too.

Nickel-sized (.88") outside my home.

I've only seen hail twice in my lifetime. The downsloping wind from the hills to my west cause storms to rain all of their hail out before reaching me.

That is so weird... It does the opposite for my area! It really gets the storms going! I have seen an innocent rain shower pop into a nice, but small supercell!

A number of years ago I was traveling between Baltimore & Annapolis in Maryland, we had a T'Storm come through with hail.....when the hail got to about 2 inches deep on the roadway I decided it was time to pull over and wait out the rest of the storm. I have never seen hail accumulate on the ground like it did in that storm....that was sometime in the Spring of 1972.....

I lied, there were 3 situations that I officially saw hail. However, it was nickel-sized as well.

About softball sized, on two occasions - during the Super Outbreak in Charlotte (no tornadoes in the area, but some very, very nasty hailstorms), and in May of 1998 in Boone, NC.

I saw nickel sized hail several times, though last year, a freak hail storm in June brought 6-10 inches of hail barely a few miles to my NW, while I saw nothing.

I'd say 1/2" sized hail is the biggest I've seen.

More interesting than that though is what I once found frozen inside a hailstone. I have no proof of this so you will have to take my word for it, but I once found a hailstone that had a bee frozen in it. I found it on my sidewalk after a storm when I was about 10 years old. I kept it in the freezer for a while too.
